My whole exhaust system is stock except for a cutout before the muffler. If I get a Borla cat back would it be louder?
I know with headers both will be much louder but i can't afford them right now.
Actually that brings up another question if i keep my cutout and when i get headers will that combo be louder then the borla, header combo. Or would the Borla header combo be louder?
And i think i am gonna go with no cats and a get a tune to make me pass emitions.

Borla will sound very nice on an LS1 car. But just a word of warning, if they do sniffer tests in your state just tuning out the cats isn't going to cut the mustard to pass emissions.
How bout a cat back with cutouts in front of the cats? It would throw a code when you have the cutouts open but a cheap scanner can reset the codes and the O2's after the cats don't effect performance, they are just for that guy in the DOT getup with the wand.

Thats the thing IL doesn't do the sniffer anymore they just do the plug in test.
And about cats I think i will just go with High Flow cats instead of no cats. My cousin has a borla and when he first got headers he didnt have cats and was sayin that it was riducously loud so prolly no cats with a borla is a bad idea high flow cats will be fine.

I do not know on the LSx, but my LT1 with the Borla Tunable wide open and a dead cat is LOUD at higher rpms. It also has a slight rasp to it at 4300 +.

If you get a Borla system right now and put it on, your car will only be louder and more refine-sounding when you have the cutout CLOSED. However, when you have it opened up, it's going to bypass the borla anyways and you won't notice a difference. The cutout will be louder than going through the borla muffler, but won't sound as nice. Really if you want it louder than a cutout with stock manifolds, you are either going to have to gut the cats and get a tune, or just save up for some LT's.
