huh.gif Hi I just joined as of tonight and I had just bought this 1994 formula a month ago. Over the past 2 weeks I have had a noise like a creeking when I turn the steering wheel one way or another. Almost like their is something loose, but steering is tight. It doesnt do it while Im driving just sitting still turning the wheel. Is this the rack maybe or just something else in the linkage.

Is the noise coming from the steering column or from the front of the car? It is possible that the steering tie rod joints are dry, maybe even the ball joints. There is also a problem with the steering rack itself...it is supposed to be lubricated from time to time. I could tell you how to do this, but you should read a manual to get the exact details, it is fairly tricky, becuz it involves removing the adjusting nut and the boots at the end of the rack, so make sure the other things are taken care of first before attempting to grease the rack.

There is a bearing at the top of the steering column--it doesn't normally need to be lubed, but.... This is also a tricky thing to do, and it is best done with a manual sitting next to you, becuz so much must be removed from the column--like the steering wheel and airbag--in order to get to it.

Let us know if the noise go away with the lubing. If it doesn't, lubing the rack itself is the next project. I've done this in the past and can tell you what is needed.
