Ok guys im adding/updating/revising my parts wish list. I already have the DynoMax Bullet exhaust but its not what I want. I've looked on their website and I checked sum older posts but still have a few things that arent clear to me. First off I live in the great state of cali with our wonderful emission laws so i was thinking bout the getting the LM2. But on the site it says its fitment is for the LS1 but i've read its good for the LT1. So I guess my first question is would I need to get anything extra to make it work/fit on my car? Second I was thinkin would the PowerFlo work on my car? And finally would I need to get that lil cookie cut-out lookin thing and the pipe to make it work/fit? Thanks in advance guys.

If you already have the dynomax bullet, you can get either the LM1 or LM2 just as a single muffler (or resonator) for only like 100 bucks and just swap out the muffler portion of the exhaust. Very simple and quick job to do. You don't need to buy any other parts.

Like said above you can just go with the SLP resonator to replace your existing equiptment.
Also YES the cat-back system for the LS1 will work on your LT1 93-97 body style. Everything is the same.

Not entirely true
`93-95 cars with single cats require a different head pipe, but SLP sells a Kit to retrofit the later exhausts to these cars.

Exactly correct. You need a little conversion pipe. I had one a while back but i sold it since i didn't need it for my 95 (i got a different exhaust). But this is what it is:
http://www.ws6project.com/user_stor/catalo...1eb299996112fc9Then your loudmouth system will work with your car...if you want to get the whole complete catback. The Powerflow catback is a completely different setup than the loudmouth catback, you'll need to buy the complete thing. You won't be able to just swap off the muffler/resonator like the Loudmouth. But ultimately, it's whatever you prefer. I have heard the powerflow on one car (it's a brand new exhaust from SLP) and honestly it sounded just like a magnaflow exhaust to me. Very mellow at idle, but sounded pretty nice when reved up. Plus the Powerflow looks kinda like fartcans on the back...i dunno JMO

Ok but thats for the 93-95. Mines 97 so would I still need it? And boo soda cans. I'll stick with the LM.

Because yours is a 97 then no, you will not need that extension. In my opinion, it doesnt get much better than the sound from a Loudmouth, and they sound extremely nice on LT1's. I have no complaints with my loudmouth system, i love it. Nothing but compliments!

Just wondering...
In your signature you say you have the SLP longtubes on your A4 equipped LS1. In SLP literature they say their longtubes fit 6 speed cars only. I have no experience with such, but since SLP is known as having parts that fit without modification if they say so I was thinking that there must be a clearance issue with the larger automatic transmission housing. Is this so? Did you have any problems with the SLP longtubes fitting?

Yes i do have the longtubes with the A4 tranny. The way the car is sitting right now there is absolutely no clearance issues. The only clearance issue that there is consists of the height the tubes sit above the pavement. That will be the same on the car no matter what tranny it's got, but what you may have heard is that it is much more difficult to fit the headers up into the car with the A4. With the A4, you have to disconnect the tranny from the crossmemeber and pry and push the transmission off to the side in order to fit the headers up past the bellhousing. Once it gets past, you are free and clear. That really is the most difficult part of installing them. Once they are in, it's a perfect fit.

cool deal!
Sorry to stray off topic, but it is sort of relevant... I say go with SLP parts(exhaust or otherwise) whenever possible. This stuff is highly engineered and as close to OEM quality there is. They are proud of their stuff as the $$$s will tell you, but their stuff fits and works like they say it will.

Sweetness. Thanks again guys. I think I had the same problem putting in the shorty BBK's. My guys said it'd be like a day but it ended up taking them 2 1/2. But now they say it'd be no problem doin other work on it, well maybe except for plugs and dist wires. I dunno is that on the same topic bout the heads?

Headers are one thing, but anything dealing with the rest of the exhaust is easy to access and work on.
As for spark plugs, there should be a seperate forum called "busting your knuckles and yelling" to devote to that topic, at least when you speak of 4th gens anyway

Add changing the starter to that "busting your knuckles and yelling" forum at least on the 1997 cars.

Alright guys its time. SLP is on its way. Just a few questions. Does it go all the way to the cat or am I gonna have to cut and have it welded or clamped? And 2, Im lookin for a new y-pipe but some of the things I find say it needs a certain brand of headers. Does anyone know a y-pipe that'll work with BBK shorties?

I have never seen a Y-pipe that fits with the route of the cats. My 97 doesnt have cats and I got the Pacesetter ORY-pipe. It runs clear up the middle almost and fits the rest of the exhaust right after the cross member. The whole 90 degree angle of the tubing after the left cat kind of has me skeptical as to if there is a y-pipe that fits them. But i could very well be wrong, seeing as how I just said to ##### with the cats all together. But I live in good old North Carolina where I dont think any inspection place has sniffer....they just plug and go haha

Well I've seen some around and I've sent emails to the sites. I'd go straight y-pipes, but I live in Cali with our great emmision standards. YAY!!!

SLP is a good brand, i like their products. You are getting the LT's right? If so, are they the "new" style?

Oh long tubes. Duh my bad took me a few to make the connection. No I already have headers. I got shorties like last year. My first mod and the guys at the shop said that the long tubes werent emmisions leagal. So, ugh.

oh yeah you live in Cali haha...they are strict with the emissions from what i hear so Long Tubes would be a problem. Correct me if i'm wrong, but aren't mid length's still emissions legal? I thought you could get away with them, not positive tho.

Well Kooks has a set up with Long Tubes and a y-pipe that has two cats on it that'll work. But I already have the shorties so I think I'll just stick with them and get the y-pipe later.
