I don't have any pictures yet, but you guys know what it looks like. I recently purchased an '02 NHRA Special Edition TA and uhhhhh ... what's so SPECIAL about it? It was too good of a deal to pass up. Needs a little paint but that's it for now. Black on black, 6 speed, buckets of power and sounds great. My buddy's a mechanic at a Pontiac dealership since '90 and he's never seen one. It's my fourth TA (two '73's and a 76) and they all ROCK!! So... is it basically a ws6 without ram air or what? Future plans are wide open. A little intel would be greatly appreciated fellas

So, what's it gonna take to be a complete Ram Air? I found a hood that looks sweet from SLP, I think it's called Ram Air HO, but what else would I need to start gettin crazy? Is SLP the go guy for my car, that's what I heard. FIREHAWKS are spectacular and SLP is responsible for that right? What about Suncoast and their hood with the four heat port's? Anyway, I'm on a mission. this car needs to be better(even though I love it now) but I want to start with the easy stuff 1st.....OOOPSS Thanx for the info guys.... I've never done much more than E-mail and buy stuff online, so I'm not to good at whatever this is called. HA HA I feel retarded. Oh well, this web site rocks... Talking to people who have good taste in vehicles is rare in northern Virginia. Out here they love their rice burners and coffee can mufflers which don't stand a chance against a real car(even a standard Trans Am with badges).

welcome.gif to TFS! I hope you enjoy yourself here. Got any pics of your car?

If you've got any other questions about your car or the site please feel to ask. I'm sure someone here will be able to help you out. Also can you go into your profile area and fill in the information for your Tech Tool Tray. That way we won't have to keep asking you certain things about your car (engine, mods, auto or manual tranny, etc). Thanks.

As for what you'd need, do you want to know just what you'd need for a complete ram air setup or do you want to know what you'd need for a complete WS6 setup? Just wondering cause they're actually two different things on our cars.

Nope.. still don't have any photos yet. And no mods either. What are some good ways to set up ram air on a regular TA. Any kind of kits that have everything needed and maybe a high quality hood .
SassySue09
It's cool about no pics yet or having any mods either.

With the ram air hood, there are several good quality products out there that are aftermarket (and yes SLP is considered aftermarket even though they done the Firehawks). I've seen the SLP hoods, VFN hoods, Suncoast Creations (I've got the Suncoast on my 97 btw), Harwood (some of theirs are non-functional hoods so be sure you check) along with several other ones. The only one that I've heard of that people have had issues with are the hoods from Glasstek. They've had problems with them being warped and not fitting correctly. You can usually find several different brands/styles on places such as Summit, Thunder Racing, Speed Inc., Jegs, etc. Just do a search.

As for what you'd all need, most hoods are a direct fit onto our cars so you can usually reuse the hood brackets and hood latch that are already on your car and all you'll need are the hood and the air filter box setup along with having someone who can fit it for you and prep and paint it for you.

As for a whole package, most makers of aftermarket hoods also make the air filter box kits that you can purchase along with their hoods, ie SLP makes a kit for use with their hoods, Suncoast makes a kit to use with their hoods, etc. So whosever hood you decide to go with should have the air box kit to go with their hood.

One thing though, I don't know if it's still the same or not, but it used to be that whomever made the hood required that the hood be shipped to a body shop or similar place and that they wouldn't ship it directly to an individual. So that's something that you might want to check into before ordering your hood.

Thanx for the tip's. It's true... nobody will ship a hood to a residence which is fine because I don't have those kind o' skills anyway. I'm looking for a capable shop near me now. Oh yeah, I took some photos and uhhh how do I get 'em to show up here?

To post pics there are several ways to do that. You can host them on the internet somewhere like Photobucket or make yourself an album in the gallery/owners gallery here and then post up the URLs for the pics with the IMG tags around the URLs or probably the easiest way is to use the 'addREPLY' button and then just use the browse button on that page and add links to the pics like you would when you add an attachment to an email.

Just be sure that if you use the 2nd option that the pics are no bigger then 500x300 and no bigger then 100kb otherwise they won't attach. But if you need any help adding the pics or resizing them if you need to do that, please let me know and I'll help you out.

Hi Sue, As i am not all that computer literate the above sounds foreign to me! Want to post pics, but don't own a digital camera. I do have a disk with car photos. Is it possible to go that route? If so, how? Thanks, Dave.
SassySue09
Yea it's possible to go that route. All you need to do is put the disc in your computer like you would any other disc and then download the pics to your computer into a file (such as My Pictures). Once they're on your computer, you just need to add them to your post like you would an email attachment. It's that easy.

But if you need any more help, just let me know. I'll be more then happy to help you out.
