My oil guage pegs all the way to right after I start the engine and stays there.

To me it sounds like either the gauge is messed up or the oil pressure sending unit has bite the dust. I wouldn't try to drive the car until you figure out what it is though so you don't ruin your engine.

I bet the wire came off of the sending unit and/or is touching ground.
