Lets see what results you had with adding an aftermarket CAI. Please, only vote if you have used an aftermarket CAI on your car.

Voted Faster but not sure.
I definitely had improvements. I could not go into 6th gear below 55mph prior to my CAI with a previous cat back that I later took off. I did also get improved throttle response. I did not take it to the track prior to my CAI nor dyno to see results.

this would help me and others if there were more posts. i'm looking to get it. you should also specify what type and filter. wether the K&N cloth cone type or sponge mushroom looking type.

They all work about the same. Go with what tickles your fancy.

xXGhosTBirDXx, like Tyler said they're all just about the same. But myself I'd stay away from one of them. I can't remember who makes it but it's the one that uses all metal tubing for the CAI. Sure it looks all nice and pretty and such but the reason I'm saying I'd avoid that one is the fact that you want the CAI to pull in cold air and with the metal tubing with that one, the metal tubing heats up due to the heat of the engine bay and you end up pulling in more hot air then you do cold, plus the fact that that metal tubing gets hot and if you're working on your car, and it's been running for any amount of time especially with the hood closed, you can burn yourself on it. I know that for a fact cause I've had that happen to me working on a car with that style of CAI on it.

As much as this has been discussed in the past I figured there would be more than 3 votes, lol!

I would have figured the same thing myself Tyler. Oh well, at least 3 of us voted.

You have 4 votes now.

SOTP seemed to improve, but I never track-tested it. I'm not sure that would even be conclusive, unless a lot of data were considered (many different track days before and after mod to average out the effects of varying track conditions). I could definitely hear the difference with the window down and the intake sucking in air at the front fender.

Well I can tell you that a CAI will make the car faster, for sure...but for both of my cars, it was my very first mod. So because of this, i didn't really feel a noticable difference. I'm sure if i had a full exhaust on and THEN put on my CAI, it would have felt more powerful.

i can only use results from my other cars. even changing just the filter to a cone style will show a difference. i bought my car with one on it so idk how much of a difference it really makes.

I installed a K&N FIPK And an Airfoil on my old `94 Formla and did notice a power increase.
Also while not a aftermarket setup I did the Free Ram Air (FRA) mod on my LS1 and it made quite a difference as speeds increased.
We all know an Airlid isn't really catagorized as a CAI but it serves a similar function of creating better flow by eliminating resrtiction as does the LT1 CAI setups. And it's been well documented that an aftermarket Airlid can provide a very substantial gain. I personally gained 2+ tenths at the track with one.

The SLP CAI looks great but the metal kills it. Maybe it's somekind of heat resistant metal, what if you wrapped it with black header tape? Nah it would take away the shiny look.
K&N FIPK and Lingenfelter look like the best. Moroso looks good too. Blue cones are the best I think, Now if only K&N came with a blue one. i still can't get over the Stock Air Boxes on 93-97 birds, what was GM thinking, I know too busy with the engine.

The SLP CAI I bought was painted with some sort of truck lining paint. Never got hot, just got warm like any other intake. I've driven the car all day long, and was still able to touch the intake without burning myself. It's the older style with the shiny black paint that gets very hot. The newer ones are fine.
I noticed an immediate increase when I upgraded to it, but noticed an even larger increase when I upgraded from it to my Ram Air setup. The straight shot and shorter ram air intake gave me really significant gains. It was like upgrading from the stock intake all over again.
