Alright, I was having a very -very- bad personal day, so I was romping around in my formula, T-tops off and a friend in the pax seat. This guy in a black cobra (or at least he had cobra badges) with his g/f with him started running his mouth, spouting off all kinds of explicit names for the firebirds, and ending by calling it a "purple piece of ----"

...Then the light turned green. He had a stick, mine is an A4. He launched a little ahead of me, I caught him when he shifted into 2nd, passed him as he shifted into 3rd. He was sitting about my rear fender when we hit the next light, I smirked and he got all pissy and burnt out jumping into the turn lane and taking off.

A few years ago, I raced my neighbor in his GT convertible. He beat me by about a car and a half on the first run. I told him I didn't hook up very well and asked him if he wanted to run them again. He quickly agreed, feeling a bit sorry for me (as he admitted later). We were at a friend's private runway, so we went back to our starting point. I think he had second thoughts when we got lined back up and he noticed the 100' posi's. This time I heated the tires up a bit with a quick burnout before we launched. I put about a car length on him the next couple races.

i thought i would play with a cobra...only his was real, and he had some mods. I dont know which but as he buried me, he squeeked tires in 2nd and 3rd....i told myself that one day i would have my TA fast enough to burn him....then i realized i didnt have that kind of money haha, but burning regular gt's is always a pleasure

Mustang owners, no matter what model they have, seem to love to try to beat our cars. It's just a fact of life. I know I've beaten quite a few of them here by me and now unless it's someone who's just gotten theirs, they don't even want to play with me anymore. Guess the ones that have raced me before got tired of getting beaten by someone old enough to be their mom.

I always think it's kind of funny, this Mustang F-body thing. Probably because I own one of each. First of all it had to of been an older Cobra (2001 or older) they put out about the same numbers as an LS1. around 300hp. So they run pretty close with the F-bodies. If it's an 03,04 Cobra it's a diferent story. My 03 with just bolt ons dynoed at 467hp, 502tq. My 2000 Trans Am with just a Magnaflow cat back and free mods dynoed at 295hp (don't remember th tq.) Good run, it's always a plus when you get the other guy a pissed off.

Also, just for fun, I posted a pic of the arch enemies that live beside each other in my garage, and in this case, the Mustang wants absolutely nothing to do with the LS1. There's also another blackbird or 2 more waiting in the wings, so the 'stang is greatly outnumbered/outmatched around here. Some say "at least it's pretty to look at", but even that is up for serious debate...

I like Mustang's ok. They are like everything else however in that technology will leave them behind,as far as the 5.0's are concerned. I think Ford is doing an admiral job with the 281 cubes they are using now. There are a few old Mustang's that I would love to own. My true love will always be Firebird's however and if I have the money to buy that Stang I want I'd end up buying a Bird with it.
