I have a 95 firebird formula and it has the 4l60e transmission I know that the 4l60e is shifted electronically but would the 700r4 bolt up to the lt1 and could I just make something work with the throttle body for 700r4 transmission to work? If thats not possible would a powerglide transmission work with it?
Thanks

As far as I can remember, neither of those two will work with your car without some major modifications since the PCM is what controls the 4L60E and without it the PCM won't know what to do shifting wise. Also the bolt patterns are different between the 4L60E and the other two so you'd have a hard time getting them to bolt up like they should.

I have to ask, why do you want to change out the tranny in the first place? You having issues with the 4L60E or you just looking to do something different with your car?

I am having problems with the 4l60e and for the 1995 it has to be a 1995 transmission and its hard to find one from just that year.

Who told you that? You can use any 4L60e for any 2 wheel drive vehicle. You can even get an adapter and a slight tune to run the stronger 4L80e from the full size trucks.

The junkyard and the transmission shop they said it has to be a from a 1995 camero or firebird with the 5.7. So do you think you a 4l60e from a 1995 2 wheel drive 5.7 truck would work?
Thanks

Yep you can use any 4L60e for your 95, they are all the same. You just gotta make sure its not the 4x4 version and you'll be just fine. These trannies are very common to find since a ton of GM cars used them.
