Quick questioh: Were there any 4th. gen. v-6 firebirds that came stock with 2 exhaust tips? I saw a late 4th. gen. bird the other day, appeared and sounded stock, had cast aluminum oval tips like my formula. I thought they were only on formies. Thanks, Dave.

2001 and 2002 base Firebird V-6 models came with dual exhaust tips.

Actually W68 equipped Firebirds will have the oval tips and Y87 Birds will have dual turn downs.

I'll give this one a shot The Y87 was an upgrade package for the 6 cyl Firebirds and included the following:
Y87 Upgrades
Limited Slip Differential (Same as the V8 cars)
Quicker Steering Ratio (Same as the V8 cars)
Single Piston rear brake calipers (Same as the V8 cars)
235/55/16 tires
3.42 rear in the Automatic cars
and then the dual-outlet muffler

In 1998, the Y87 became a standard package on the Firebirds, with the exception of the rear disk brakes

The W68 option was simply a ground-effects package, and also included the oval exhaust tips instead of the turndown tips

Y87 Bird's are basically a Formula with a 3.8
Y87 Camaro's are a Z28 with a 3.8

And you can have W68/Y87 together.
