So it is getting kinda chilly here in North Carolina.....HAHA, they dont know chilly like New York does, btw going back this week for thanksgiving. Anyway, my 97 is creaking like crazy, everytime i go over a speed bump or hit a manhole top, it creaks and groans. Is this normal cuz its cold or am i lookin at maybe having to get some new suspension parts?

Just wondering haha

Mine is usually creaky when it's cold. The creaks seem to go away once the car is warmed up and has been driven around a bit. I'm thinking a subframe connector and strut tower brace would fix that in a hurry.

When suspensions start to creak, it means that either parts need a greasing or the rubber bushings are old and worn out and it is time for replacements. The rear sway bar uses poly bushings that are graphite coated cloth lined to prevent squeaks--but even they eventually wear out. If the suspension is a heavy duty such WS6 or 1LE, chances are that the front sway bar bushings are the same thing. The sway bar end links on all Firebirds are a speacil white poly that is self lubricating and they do get old and crappy. Buy the GM replacement parts, they are amazingly inexpensive and amazingly superior to any aftermarket poly bushings. My recommendatin is to not use any aftermarket poly bushings for the lower a-arm rear horizontal bushing (or any a-arm bushing for that matter). By the way, that joint typically tears in half and causes all kinds of shimmy to reach the steering wheel.

Just do OEM replacement bushings on the front and rear and you'd be surprised at how well the car will drive and handle. Let's not even mention how quietly it will drive, even when cold.
