So a few days ago i went ahead and seafoamed the T/A to get all the carbon out of it. Worked pretty good, and it REALLY helped the idle of the car, and i definitely notice a return in some lost horsepower from the carbon buildup over the years. I went ahead and videoed it to make a "documentary-type" of video after i started it back up...thought you guys may enjoy it. Sorry it took so long to actually get in and start driving it, i got a bit worried that i messed something up since the car was idling very rough and i wasn't getting any smoke at first.

Yeah so your TA would look much better with those rims your talking about.your call though But anyways yeah I'm going to do that when I get mine back. Did you pour the bottle into the gas tank, oil, or throttle body? About how much? Number of bottles? Looks cool I have to admit. Imagine taking that on the highway, all the accidents.

I bet your plugs are dirty after all that gunk burning. I'd take a look at them over the weekend. but by the looks of your youtube vid it wasn't that bad. how much more did it smoke after you stopped filming.
Freshbake
Aaaahhhh i'm really on the fence about the rims. Maybe i'll just get them for the price and if i don't like em, sell them.
As for the Seafoam, here's what i did:
2 bottles of Seafoam
1 bottle of Seafoam Deep Creep

1 of the bottles of seafoam went directly into the gas tank when i filled up at the gas station.
I divided the other bottle in half by pouring one half into a plastic cup. Then i got it home, turned off the car, and unplugged the brake booster line and turned on the engine. Then, i SLOWLY poured 2/3 of the cup into the brake booster line, which pulled the seafoam directly ontop of the cylinders. For the final 1/3 of the cup, i quickly dumped it in, causing the engine to stall out so that the seafoam sat in the cylinder banks and really soaked into the engine good. After about 15 minues of letting it sit, i started it back up. This was very hard to do at first, since my car had all that fluid in the engine. Finally she started up, and i let it idle for a bit...that's when the video started.

I didn't put any into the oil because it's only been 800 miles since my last oil change and i didn't want to ruin the new oil, so i'm going to wait till it needs to be changed. Then i'll do it about 100 miles before hand.

The plugs SHOULD be okay, it's not supposed to hurt them at all if you use the correct amount of seafoam...but i do plan to check anyways. The car smoked a little after the video ended, but not much. Just some hazy smoke here and there whenever i really got on it. I drove it hard until she stopped smoking.

Never heard of the deep creep. Where did you get these items?
Freshbake
Advance Auto Parts has them. I'm pretty sure any auto store should carry them. The Deep Creep i used to spray directly into the intake manifold through the throttle body. I took off the big hose leading to the intake (after the Lid) and put a brick down on the gas pedal to open the throttle body plate. Then sprayed that stuff all in there. Works great. Definitely something you should do if it hasn't been done before. It only makes your car run stronger.
xXGhosTBirDXx
yeah cause I've seen the seafoam at checkers and autozone but not the deep creep. I'll see if advance auto parts or O'Reilly has it. Can't wait to see the smoke show, I'll upload it too.

I thought I read that you should use only MAF cleaner to clean the MAF sensor and screen.
Freshbake
yeah you should. The MAF is right after the intake w/ filter. After the MAF comes the Throttle body, and thats what you spray the deep creep into. If you want to clean the MAF you use the MAF cleaner.

How many miles are on your TA? We did my buddies '02 Z that had a 100k @ the time and there were TONS of smoke, at idle, part throttle, and even more @ full throttle. Yours didn't seem to smoke as badly. We also found an exhaust leak too, so killed two birds w/ one stone!
Freshbake
Mine has 92xxx on it. And yeah it didn't smoke as much as i expected. It pretty much stopped after the video ended. Guess my engine wasn't that dirty haha.
sedition97
hahahaha all the smoke coming from the seafoam looked like my old taurus running normally laugh.gif laugh.gif

So after this was all done can you tell any changes in how the car runs? Whats the differance in the Seafoam vs the Gumout cleaner drip used at Walmart? It seems like the same thing pretty much.

I seen that SES light on smile.gif
Freshbake
Hahaha yeah the SES light is cause of my headers. The 02 sensor doesn't want to heat up fast enough on one side. Just been too lazy to fix it, since it really doesn't effect performance. But yeah, the Seafoam did actually make the car run much better. The idle was much more smooth. With my car, it has a pretty rough idle where you can feel the engine rocking the car a bit...kinda like somebody is bumping the car with their hips. After the seafoam, it reduced it almost to the point where it doesn't do that anymore and it felt smooth. Also, the throttle response was a tad better and the RPM's revved MUCH faster.

I'm not sure about the walmart brand, but i'm sure it does the same job. I just went with Seafoam because they are very reputable.

+2. Saw it there too.

but did not see the Sea Creep...the spray kind

It depends on what walmart you're lookinat cuz theyre all different...bigger ones may have it, but here where I live (and I work) we do not...

Example, the Waverly Walmart does not have Lucas Oil additive in single quarts, just one gallon jugs...25 minutes away at the Cedar Falls Walmart, they have a bunch of choices for Lucas products...we just have the one in Waverly.

Your local walmart MAY have it, and it may not. Prices of products and products they stock all depend on the store...every walmart is different for products and even has different prices for the same exact product many times...it depends on the local market...

All services in the Tire and Lube Express do have a nationwide standard I believe, and should be the same price...

....as far as the walmart gumout service goes....

The Gumout treatment they do at walmart is very similar. It's 19.88 Plus tax, and we add a fuel treatment to the gas tank, and use an intake vaccum line (usually the brake booster or PCV valve) and add an engine cleaner...you start the car and let the engine suck up all the engine cleaner, and then turn it off when its all sucked up...then when you start it again (after re attaching the vaccum line) you sit back and watch all the crap fly out of the exhaust smile.gif

sometimes a lot comes out, sometimes very little....depends on the driving style of the owner, year/mileage of the car ect...lots of times it does trip the Engine light, but usually goes off within a few miles...

(did you guys forget you've got a veteran Walmart Tire & Lube Express Technician here? tongue.gif )
