I finally got some "formula" door badges for my door emblemless 95 formy...
seems ive found 2 nice ones, a black one and a silver one and im going to decide which color i like better when they arrive later this week.

Anyway, I was wondering what I should use to place the emblems on my door?
johnniereb
silver sounds pretty cool personally
MasterTomos
yea, I think im gunna like the silver but we will see

black on black to me is a little much. i'm partial to little accents around the car. like an all black car with red calipers and badges, or a different color that is a sharp contrast to the main color.

Go to your closest auto parts store, and ask for some 3M double sided adhesive tape. You can use that stuff on door moldings, badges, almost anything.. Very durable stuff.

Did you get the raised door lettering emblems or did you get the vinyl decals for the door? For either, you shouldn't need anything more than basic items in your home to put them on right, i can help you out with whichever type of badges you got since i've done them all before many times.
MasterTomos
They are the raised door emblems...pretty hard to find actually(easy to find firebird and trans am ones, but not formula ones!) Theyre always expensive or a weird color or all beat up but these looks nice.

I think we sell that 3m stuff at walmart, but im always skeptical about buyin stuff there and thought id ask around first. My buddy's 94 TA is sittin right next to my formy in storage and his has the emblems...ill just use that as a comparison

yeah i had to get a replacement "Trans Am" set since my "r" fell off and couldn't buy just one letter haha...only could find it thru the dealer. However, just to let you know you shouldn't need any of the 3M tape, because the emblems already have an adhesive backing that is almost like tar. Make sure the emblems are lined up the first time, cause it's the only chance you'll have! When you get them on, put some pictures up! BTW still waiting on those ZR1 pics biggrin.gif haha!

If he bought them used, then he will need it. If they are new, then yeah, you're right, they already have the adhesive backing. Used ones will need to have the backsides scraped off and the new adhesive tape applied.

man, had to bring up the pics of the rims huh? haha

here's whats happened to the camera since ive worked on the rims...

It was dropped and didnt work afterwards, so i sent it to sony for a fixin'. IT took 3 weeks to get back, and I left for florida the next day. I took it with and it got left in my grandmas car... sad.gif I wont get it back until next week... sad.gif

On top of that, my car is being stored in a garage with a long driveway. Its a garage that was for a house that USED to be there...basically an empty lot with just a garage...we have about 3 feet of snow on the ground here with a few nice layers of ice in their as well and that driveway is not plowed... blink.gif

the odds of decent pictures anytime soon are very null...Ill throw them on soon enough here and when i get the camera back ill dust off the car with a luffa and open the garage door and get you guys some pics, I promise! haha

as for putting the emblems on, I'll probably have to wait until it isnt freezing here so I can clean up the side of the car to put them on. I may paint them as well, depending upon their condition.

The emblems I bought are (i believe)used, so I'll probably have to use the 3m tape...
MasterTomos
Ill give you what i can right now...here's a pic of my rims after i spot shined them a bit...

they look better now than they do in the pictures...ive wet sanded them a bit and polished them even more. smile.gif
Freshbake
Oh okay you got them used...yeah then nevermind you will have to use some adhesive tape then. When you do clean the paint, just a tip...wash the area with warm water and dishwasher soap, and then rub in some rubbing alcohol on the area well, then use water to get it all off. that should make sure there is no wax or anything on the paint.

The rims look awesome in pics! I guess i'll have to wait to see pics of them on the car...haha!
MasterTomos
thanks man...I did some more wet sanding and polishing on the front ones last night just because they are sitting here in my dorm with me smile.gif

Theyre lookin pretty decent compared to what they did look like before.

Yea, I already planned on gettin those badges clean...I may have to sand off the back to get all the old adhesive off of them...should be here by this weekend so we'll havta see...

Theyre supposed to be in good condition, and the formula ones are hard to find. The dealership could only get in the firebird or trans am ones...couldnt find the formula badges...so im happy with my find. smile.gif

by the way I like the new sig pic! nice haha
MasterTomos
picked up some 3m double sided tape at advance auto...we'll see if this stuff does the trick! Feels real sticky!
MasterTomos
the first badge finally came in the mail-the silver one. I went and changed my oil today and took it with me...I just held it up to the door and looked to see what it would look like...

WOW

very very sexy...I have always liked black and silver, but i think this is going to look absolutely awesome. It makes such a difference...very sexy looking...

As soon as I have a day off and it gets above freezing I'll clean off the side of the car and slap them on...I don't want ti to be too cold while I put them on, cuz I obviosuly dont want them to fall off....

and sorry, no pics yet, there's a 4 foot drift across the driveway in front of the garage sad.gif and my formy is still on jackstands as I await my drag radials...
Freshbake
Wow i haven't been on the forums in forever, been wicked busy with things lately. I can't wait to see some pics of those new badges, i would think that the silver on a black car would look the absolute best. No other color would go as well in my personal opinion. As soon as you get em on, i expect some pics!
MasterTomos
ok, I got both the emblems(one black and one silver)

They both look awesome! Im not sure which I want to go with...

I got my front rims wet sanded and polished up, lookin pretty spiffy and back on the car...I still have my back rims off awaiting for the drag radials to be mounted on the back rims...

I FINALLY got the camera back from florida today! I am going to stop by and take some pics tomorrow so I can post them up here and see what you guys think...probably just some update pics, possibly a poll on black vs. silver badges...we'll see what tomorrow brings but it's lookin good! just gotta charge the camera over night...
