hey guys i need some help i have an 86 trans am and i just swapped the 305 tpi for a 350 tpi and i can't get the car to run with the air dam on. the car run's great with it off but it throws a code. with it on it just falls on its face and wont even idle. i think it has somthing to do with the vacum system though cuz my brake booster doesn't get enough vacum untill high rpms but with the system all hooked up my brakes are good. im completly confused any help would be great.

Welcome to TFS.
Are you saying this problem happens with the plastic piece that diercts air up thru the radiator is in place?

ok well i was looking at it and in the tube thats after the air cleaner theres a censor when i unplugged it, it ran... is that an important censor or just emission bull ######

Sounds like a Mass Air Flow(MAF) meter that you are unplugging and yes it is important... not just emission crap.
Were the 2 TPI motors of the same year model that you switched?

If it's has a big hole in it with a screen and some small wires in the middle of it, it is the MAF like BBJ said. By unplugging it and it running that means the MAF is bad and will need to be replaced.
