Help!

Occasionally the shifter on my 2000 Formula automatic transmission shifter will lock in Park. The button will not push and it will not allow any movement at all.

Then, for no apparent reason, it will begin to function normally for a random period.

Anyone have a similar experience?

Thanks
MasterTomos
I had this happen once...I just rocked the car back and fourth from the back...its like its not all the way into park...im not sure what causes this...

Believe it or not, the fix for this was a new battery. Changed it 6 months ago and have not had a single problem since.

Yep, a bad battery can cause all kinds of strange problems. My guess is that very low voltage was preventing the micro-switch in the brake pedal from allowing the shift out of park.
