stock is a 4.6 ltr V8 with 215 at the crank, so about 194-189 at the wheel. A guy at one of my stores has one with off-road x-pipes, re-ratio'd gears, a Saleen body kit, and 20" rims. He thinks he can take me, and take me hard. Asking everyone else in the store who would win between a 97 GT and a 97 Firebird, everyones sayin the GT. HAHA. He keeps talking trash. "Hey if you want your car to go fast just put a Ford motor in it." I told my friends that and they all laughed and said why so ur car can break? Even my buddy with the 01 GT chuckled. He even asked me, "Hey whats your quarter mile, like two minutes?" Idiot. He claims he has 230 to the wheel. I just laughed and said, "270 baby. If I can take out the 2000-2008 GT's I can take you." But he doesn't seem to wanna race. Always making up excuses and talking more smack. Typical Mustang owner.

Ive raced similar 4.6 mustangs...97 and 98s with even more than that done to them...its not even close...you have a much much faster car...

Oh I want to. I wanted to even thinkin it was a Saleen. But the now the guy just keeps talkin smack and making up escuses. He's just trying to avoid the humiliation of defeat. Oh and he said that with the way the gears are set up, its like taking off as an automatic. The guy is lame. I know more bout Mustangs then he probably does.

wow. the guy i bought my trans off of also owned a '95 mustang gt with the 5.0 and a 5 speed. we had to ride together for 3 hours so we talked haha. his mustang came up (stock) and he went on to tell me that it was quite a bit slower than the trans. this kid with a smaller motor, no parts, and 20's wants to talk? show him whats up. its not my style...but after that much i'd make s scene with the kid.

From what I've heard about the 4.6 modular Ford, bolt-on mods don't do much for them. As for a real V8, over a full liter larger in displacement isn't real enough for him?

it makes sense that bolt ons wouldnt do as much for a smaller engine...those dohc motors respond very well to bolt ons tho it seems...

Just remember this. In drag racing anything can happen. You are not gauranteed a win and if he beats you you'll never hear the end of it. I would take him for a ride in your car and see if he still talks smack. If so tell him to put up or shut up.

with these cars, unless yours broke down catastrophically right as the race started, youd beat him. When ive raced these even if you get a bad start and they get the best one, all you have to do is push it to the floor and maintain some sort of traction...they dont stand a chance...they run around 2 seconds slower in the 1/4 mile usually...

Oh no doubt about that. But Im not to worried. I've gone up against cars with way much more power that had gotten the jump on me and still managed to pull ahead of them. But like I've said, he'll never be man enough to put his ego up on the line after talking so much smack like that. I dunno, in my book, if someone talks all that talk and ends up not wanting to prove anything, I count it as a win for me. But we'll see. This Kid sounds like the typical Junior Joe in his 5.0 from back in the day.
Got the car as a Graduaton present and isn't very knowledgeable.
It's his first real car (cough) and it must be the fastest thing on the road right.

We would see thes Kids every Spring and Summer on the Streets.
They would drive around being mr happy clutch and barking some rubber here and there boosting there ego's. Then they would see us on the other side just cruising do a double take and then hit the next turn around to catch us thnking they had a new victim.
I used to cruise in the middle lane (3 lane highway) at 5 under the speed limit and bait these guys all the time. They would always be the ones to instigate a race and always be the ones to be humiliated afterwards. They didn't realize that I had over 100 cubic inches on them even though I had a heavier car. That and with the tall 2.41 gears it would lay 4 feet of rubber at 70 mph on the 1-2 shift.
Funny thing is with My LT1 and my LS1 the outcomes were always the same too.
Foot would always go in mouth as jaw dropped to the floor.

Now I can't wait for Summer.

oh god. i hate these people. theres a kid in my auto systems class with a 1998 civic hatch and he dropped an h22 into it and brags about his 220hp. he even tried to challenge me to a race in my 1979 fleetwood when i was talking about the 501 in it. they just talk. ask him, over the course of the next month when he is able to race... any day any time, no matter your schedule, do it. (and destroy him) then every chance you get, bring it up. its the only way to deal with these big mouth retards.

Next time he tries to talk trash, offer to race.
If he refuses, ask if he's scared to loose to a "lesser" car.
If he tries to weasel out of a race by saying it would be a waste of gas or something along those lines, offer to pay for his gas...if he wins.
If none of that works, be content in the fact that he knows he has an inferior car.

He wants you to get a real motor huh? How come since Ford started putting the 4.6L in, they can not get over 300hp without a power adder? GM motors have been well over 300hp with BASIC bolt ons. Not sure how much more of a real motor you need. Maybe get a 69 hemi in it, but that might be too much of a motor for him.

His gears make it go like an auto? I think it was said that it is because he can not spin those massive DUBs he has on there. All show and no go.

He races lightnings and gets them out of the hole and calls it a win? I have raced 10 lightnings in my 95TA, they knew we were racing, some even jumped the start and others spraying with heavy bolt ons. Only 2 have beaten me and they had 150+ shots of nitrous.

Sounds like you are going to have a hard time with others around. I agree with Tyler, get him to ride once and make him scream like a little girl. Chances are he has never been over 100. He has the Saleen kit on it too? Wow, I am not impressed. Now if it was a real Saleen, then it would be interesting.

Good luck with this one. There are several 03 Cobras here that will not race me. They are always ready to go, until I start my car then their "Dad" conveniently calls and wants "HIS" car back. Some never learn.

Yeah when I first saw his car I was like, "Oh." Wasn't afraid, just thinkin that I MIGHT have sum good compition. But then I found out it was a regular GT. LAME. Don't try to make it look like summin its not unless ur putting out as much or if not more then what ur advertising. Just like how regular GT's, and even V6's put on Cobra rims. Oh which reminds me. I've seen this guy a couple of times, a newer model V6, trying to pull it off as a GT500. He has sticker badging on the side. Not even the little metal/shiny badges. Grrrrr!!!!

Of course my bird bro...saw him leaving his house at night one time so I followed him onto the road. got up to 92 and was right behind him keeping the gap tight and close that he tried so hard to open up all while I flashed my fog lights. I'm assuming he must have been pretty nervous at this point. his whistle can looked like the coffee was burning. fortunately I noticed my needle dangerously ontop of the E. switched lanes, relased the gas, hit my tranny perform button, and floored it this time burning some tire just before I passed him. what a rush until he became just a pin point in my rear view mirror.

later on I found out he had a injen CAI, headers, and a chip. if it were me I would be thinking to myself, what a waste of money on these mods.
