Whats going on fellow TA owners? guess ill tell everyone a little about myself and my car. My name is Jason, im a 21 year old college student. Ive loved muscle cars as long as i can remember. My first car was a v6 Mustang (lol) and recently i purchased a 99 Trans AM. Money is tight being in college so i havent done much of anything to it. To top it off my window got smashed and my c.d. player got stolen so that set me back a bit too. I dont know too much about engines, exhaust, etc.. so im hoping you guys can help me out... Anyway, hope i havent rambled to much, see everyone later...

Welcome, i'm not too far from you. I'm in Fairfax, VA (go to George Mason University) and have been down to ODU quite a bit. I've got a few friends who to go school down there. Nice looking T/A you've got there! We can definitely help you learn about these cars...this is where i learned pretty much everything i know!

Awesome car dude!!! The rims and color are the bomb. If I were you I'd start with exhuast like headers and mufflers (Flowmaster Borla, Magnaflow), then suspension, and then tuning the motor and tranny with camshafts and shift kits. Appearance modifications could be done in between. Do you run it on synthetic oils? How many miles is the heart runned up to?

Thanks for the friendly welcome everyone, much appreciated! Im glad i found the right place to get good information on whats best.. I have been to GMU a few times myself, what year are you? When i was in the market for a 4th gen TA there really wasnt much selection but i came across this one and i was hooked. It was in great shape and really clean with only 36,000 miles on it. Its up to 75,000 now, i try not to drive it too much but its hard to stay away lol... Ya im looking to beef up the sound with most likely SLP loudmouth exhaust, then i wanna lower it about 2 inches. Maybe some new rims and tires.. Looking to do most of these mods in the next few months or so...

keep in mind if you lower it too much, if and when you do headers (hoping you get Long Tubes) you will run into clearance issues and rim/tire size problems. SLP is very good by the way.

In regards to mods I have always been a fan of the KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid) philosphy.
Many times small changes can have dramatic impacts on performance.
For Performance I would start with an Air Lid and a Catback
For Suspension you really need to figure out whether you want a ride and handling setup or a Drag setup. I can tell you from experience that a good set of performance shocks will change the cars character dramatically. And lets face it if you like to drive your car a handling setup is always more fun. As far as the drop springs I'll save my comments for when you're ready to purchase both springs and shock cause they need to be addressed at the same time.

I agree with Craig. Follow the KISS rule and you really can't go wrong. Also remember you get what you pay for when you get parts/mods for our cars. If you go/pay cheap you usually end up getting a cheaply made/produced part/mod. It's best to save up your money and get a good/quality part so that it lasts a long time rather then getting a cheap/poor quality part/mod and you end up having to replace whatever you get several times.
