Firstly,

!!! That is one beautiful formie you have, looks to be a pretty rare car. I hardly ever see the gold birds, and then add on the fact that it's a WS6. Congrats on the new bird! Where in Germany are you stationed? I recently lived over there for 3 years in Frankfurt. Definitely an awesome place to live!

That car is a keeper. Sell the house if you have to but keep the car.
All V8 4th gens have exhaust tips on both sides stock.

All V8 4th gens have exhaust tips on both sides stock.
Except 1998 WS6 cars the have a single 3.5" tip on the left side (only year like this).
It was perhaps the best flowing system ever installed on an F-body by GM. It didn't meet the new drive by noise standards for `99 so it was changed to the duals.
Also don't forget the Dual on the left SLP optioned cars from 1994 -1997 Firehawks Camaro SS's and some WS6's.
Here is a Breakdown of 1998 WS6's by Color

7 Gold WS6 Formula's but no breakdown for which transmission they had.

Hey 98ws6
You said you were looking into a single exit system similar to what the car originally came with.
This is a system I ran for 7 years and was very happy with and don't worry that it is for an LT1 car because it does fit and uses the stock hangers
http://www.ws6project.com/user_stor/catalo...roducts_id=1421You might want to get a Polished Stainless tip for a better more stock appearence though.
This is what I swapped it out for
Mufflex 3.5" SOTL w/Flowmaster 30 series Race Muffler.

Feb 9 2009, 05:53 PM
im gonna use the slp y pipe and custom 3 inch mandrel bent all the way back with a borla bullet muffler and then a slp slash cut tip

Sounds like you have a good plan
Heres a pic of mine with the old setup.
It had a 18" long 3.5" tip on it.

Really kewl golden bird!!! But for some reason I have grown accustomed to seeing those hoods with sideskirts and a raised wing along with a TA (rear/front bumper). Keep it as is thats why its a formula. Make sure never to let that go for any reason..sell your kidney or your spleen along with your house if it need be. Congratulations!!!
is it an auto or stick? What gear ratio in the posi? are you running the bird with synthetics?

Its a manual, synthetics are used in the tranny, engine and rearend. And right now it has the stock 3.42s. I got a handfull of parts waiting to get thrown on though. She will def be a sleeper when done though

careful with the car washes...those dudes use all these chemicals to make it all shiny and stuff, but will end up messing/burning the paint unless you are talking about professional hand carwashes so thats different. you also have to consider the amount of sun you get where you live. The old dude that painted my car said to only use water with a slight dash of soap and but wash it in the shade. hand dry and put on some meguiar's Wax...that stuff smells really good. also what kind of mods you plannin to throw in?

well i already have 4 point strut tower brace and adj panhard bar from lg motorsports, granatelli lower control arms, hurst shifter with short stick. then once i get her to my new duty station shes getting ported tb, lid, smooth bellow, ls6 intake, ported 2002 manifolds, slp y pipe, 3" madrel bent with borla bullet, air and egr deleted, tubular k member, tubular a arms, sub frame connectors, a set of 3.73s and a tune. Basically all the best stock parts from all ls1 years to make a so called "factory freak". and keep it as stock looking as possible.

Be carefull of the multipoint STB's esp. ones bolted to the cowl because they can cause cracked windshields. The 2 points are usually good enough but most people think the don't do much.
Otherwise looks like a good list they only thing I would add is a set of Koni S/A Shocks. Because once you have driven one of these cars with Koni's you'll wonder why GM didn't put them on at the Factory.

Let me know when you are ready to do that because I did alot of research before purchasing my stuff. I'm currently sitting on a proven Autocross setup that rides even better then the original stock suspension. The Key component is the Koni Single Adjustable (S/A) Shocks they provide a dramatic improvement in ride and performance.

Koni's have an excellent reputation! A bit on the pricey side, but you get what you pay for. I've never rode in a car with Koni's....i'd like to see the difference haha!!

Nice TA! I have a Rare Bird too! I will upload some pics as soon as this rain gives me a chance! 1997 Formula Ws6 6spd vert! Only 41 made. I'm a new member as well...daily driver '96 3800 base Bird. They quit making Formie Ws6's after '97...... I have some RPO code issues.... can't find them anywhere. I think the car (honestly) might have been some sort of special build, like for some Pontiac guy..... I know it shows Fleet on its history, but the
rpo doesn't match right VM2 says dealer fleet, my RPO is VM3. Same? The codes are pretty detailed so I don't understand why I have 7 codes that I can't find.
Here they are for anyone who might help:
101, 102, R8V, R9B, R9Z, STE, VM3, W59.
