So I've finally been able to save up enough to buy the long tube header kit from Dynatech with cats, Y-pipe, and long tube headers for my 01 trans am!!! Now the next question before it gets delivered is should I do the install myself of get it done at a good exhaust shop??? Has anyone else had any experience with putting in that type of exhaust/exhaust kit? I have experience putting the same kit on my silverado pickup and several other hot rod header installs but all those have room to work, and we all know there isn't much room on our cars. Anyway.... suggestions?

Honestly it's not impossibly difficult to do the install yourself, but if you can find anybody to help you out it will make it a LOT easier. You really only need basic tools, and enough clearance under the car to get the headers up and into the engine bay. I got mine in just fine, but of course we did run into a few difficult spots trying to get the passenger side headers in. Also, the brand of headers does have a bit to do with how easy they are to install. Also, if you do the job yourself make sure that you ziptie all wires far away from those headers. That would save you a LOT of grief. I say, do the job yourself, save some money, and learn a bit more on how to take these cars apart and put em back together cool.gif
