A few weeks ago I heard a knocking in the engine when my rpm's got up to around 1500. At the same time the knocking started, the car wouldn't switch gears until you get up to 3000 rpm. The knocking ending up being a connecting rod bearing so I decided to go with a swap and managed to find an engine that came with a transmission. I just got the car back yesterday and the mechanic asked that I drive it around for a few days and come back to let him know what I think. The car still only shifts when you get up to 3000rpm's between first/second and second/third. I don't know why he bothered giving it back when it's still like this. The engine sounds like a good engine, I can feel more compression.

What could this transmission problem be? Maybe it just needs a simple adjustment. I should also mention that I have been having electrical issues. It eats 20amp fuses for the exterior lights called "Tail." The radio also does not hold its memory when I turn the car off and the interior lights do not come on when I open the door.

Well all it needed was an adjustment so the transmission is ok. But now when I accelerate hard, there is a rattle noise coming from somewhere behind the steering wheel. Could this be an ignition timing?
