so the guy told me it is completely rebuilt with zero miles..it has a use d torque converter but the converter is perfect he said. i installaed the tranny and now when i drive it..the car wont even burnout..and u can feel it shifting wierd..it doesnt have a solid hard shift. the shift lags and kinda feels like a slipping shift. and when i ge on it the tranny downshifts but the car wont g like its slipping or something. also when im in 1st gear and im rollng into the throttle slowly the tranny like slips in and out of gear and it doesnt shift right away. and whe n it shifts it feels like its a shift with slippage. could this be something like the torque converter not fully engaged? i made sure it was all the way onto the transmission..wiggled it and spun it until it fell in place.but when the trans was bolted up i had to slide the converter about 1/2 inch to 3/4 inches to the flywheel because it had a gap.

Have you rechecked the fluid? How about the TV cable? It needs to be set correctly or damage to the tranny may happen. Did you pull the pan off of it before you installed it to check it out? Also, never use a used convertor with a new transmission. If the fluid in it is contaminated then that fluid will circulate thru the new transmission. Not a good idea.

i took off the pan and cleaned it whenever i bought it so its all clean and the torque converter had freash fluid in it..it was all clean. yah i know i shouldntve used a used converter but i had no choice really..a have set the TV cable a few times to make sure its all good. i rechecked the fluid and it wasnt shoiwing after i added 4 qts plus topped off the converter..so i added 2 more qts and its starting to get better it seems but i will see what happens. the guy said he will never rip anyone off and if he needs to he will wrk with me and see what we can do.

Thats good if he does that. There are alot of people who would just as well rip someone off to make the buck.

I bought my 89 with a bad tranny. A friend of mine had a remanufactured GM 700R4 for $200 and I put that in. I drove it and it was bad to! No drive gear! Man,was I pissed. I told him about it and he just handed me $200 back. I found another one for $125 and the guy swore it would be good. It was (is). It was just a pain to pull all that back out again. The friend said he drove the truck it was in and it was fine. I guess sitting for 2 years did not help it any.

well the tranny seems to be shifting better and better as i drive it but on top end around 90 it still just revvs out like its slipping. i can let out the throttle slowly and when the rpms drop to around 3k instead of 4500 u can feel the car start to pull alitlle harder than WOT at that speed...but for a trans to be 0 miles it should drive and shift just fine.

There is something that you should do any time you replace a burn't up tranny, and that is flush and blow out the trans cooler lines with compressed air. If not metal shavings etc... will be pushed back into the new trans. Dave

i dont have any tools really so i cant do all that good stuff..my step dad dont ever work on anything so i have to depend on my own tools and stuff for working on my car.
