Full Version: Monsoon Subs - Replacement

I believe one of the back seat speakers has blown out in my '02 TA. I found this listing on eBay:

"These speakers commonly fail as the original design could not handle the 500 watts of power the monsoon system put out; this new design has more handling power and will not blow out easily like the original"

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-pair-GM...8#ht_4097wt_852

Price looks reasonable for a pair of speakers. I would replace both.

Your advice is appreciated smile.gif

I did the same thing last year. I had a blown sailpanel sub and both doors were blown. I was originally looking into aftermarket but decided on something similar to what your looking at.
(basically an upgraded version of the original speakers)
When I got them and pulled them out they looked ientical to the factory speakers and was a direct plug in. Now I'm very happy cause it's nice to finally listen to the radio again.

Thank you, Craig. that's pretty much the answer I was looking for.

BTW, what did you use to replace the door speakers? The ones in my Formula are blown (for the second time).
Aftermarkets are around $300 installed. I didn't see anything similar to the sail panel replacements when I was searching.

Thanks

I bought all four at the same time through the same place but I don't remember where.
I'll have to do some searching and then get back to you.
