Hey guys, need your opinions here. 2000 Formula: Still haven't done the ''free ram air mod''. Some guy over on Omaha. F-body claims 10-15 hp, hard for me to believe. Knowing most of you have done this, is there a noticeable increase in throttle response, seat -of- the- pants differance? Being ram air, I know that it probably won't kick in until after 60-70 MPH or so. Also, does the air filter get dirtier quicker? Just looking for some answers to decide if I want to procede with this. Thanks Dave.

Ok Dave
In my experience the FRA mod does work but 10-15 HP is laughable.
Back in late `98 early `99 the LS1 aftermarket was just getting started particularly for the F-bodies.
This led many LS enthusiasts to find other ways to improve performance, and that is where the Free mods came from.
Truth be told I had a debaffled Ram Air hood on my car before it was a year old and saw little to no gain in performance.
But later that spring I did the FRA and EGR mods and imediately felt in increase in performance. Not a huge increase but the car definetely felt stronger esp. towrds the top end. The only downside to this mod is that the filter does need to be replaced or cleaned more often.

i have to agree it does work. anybody claiming hp gains is probl going of magazine dyno results, which will vary. when i did it on my 01 bird with only the hypertech the cars best time was 13.4 several times. then i did the fra, tbbypass and adjusted the tb blade and took the car to its current 13.2.
