So My fog Light went out and my right turn signal had a socket with a short, so i fixed the fog light no problem took like 3 minutes because of limited hand space. Now heres the fun part I took the old socket for the turn signal out removed the old electrical tape etc restripped the wires for clean metal and connected the wires from the new socket onto that. Now heres the problem now the car wont start wont even make a peep when you crank it. radio works headlights work all that but as soon as you turn the key all the way everything dies. I checked the fuses visually and with a continuity tester replaced some fuses even though they didnt look bad and tried jumping it as well. I'm at a complete loss and will probably have it towed and hooked up to the "Mother" computer lol at a chevy dealership and let them hassle with it and have my job pay for the repairs probably have some other things taken care of as well while its in the shop for the first time ever.

First thing I would check would be the neutral switch (auto), clutch switch (6sp). When you turn the switch to start it normally turns everything else off.

Neutral switch huh no idea what that even is lol where is it exactly and whats it for ? just trying to figure out where it comes into play with my whole situation and thx for the idea appreciate it. wanna get it out from behind my shop as soon as possible though its in a safe spot also considering its a marine base but still would rather have it at barracks or a shop which im waiting to see if i can figure it out myself before i have it towed and pay for it to be fixed.

If you had a direct short in the old socket, it may have damaged the battery. Take the battery out and have it load tested. Most auto parts stores can do that.

Well Apparently our cars or at least 4th gen but im assuming all have a safety feature where your car can be in pristine condition but if the ECU can't read the guages the car will not start won'y even make a single peep and well lol we had my whole shop looking at the car and the person who checked fuses inside the car was incompetent as far as I'm concerned because I decided for ##### n giggles I would go back over all wire connections and fuses again check for continuity etc and starter and all that well low and behold the the Guages fuse was blown replaced it and what do you know it fired right up all over a little 15 Amp fuse and someone being stupid and not checking them correctly almost had it towed I woulda been pissed. Got it running and finished replacing the new turn signal socket which all lights work but the turn signals are a little fishy still work but once you use right turn signal the light in dash stays on but they stuill work fine..... gonna replace bulbs and relay see if that clears it up.

Glad you found it. The flasher might be stuck causing your other issue. Check that out too.

had the same problem with the turn signal (not the starting problem) would turn the signal on and it would light up but the light and blinker would just stay on and not blink until it would turn off. problem was the wiring to the connector that goes to socket. just undo the conector from the socket pull out the wiring from under the bumper so you can work good on it and make sure the wires are in the connector good and not out a bit where they can touch each other or not make contact at all. but this was on my lt1 4th gen.
