Full Version: Water Leaking near dashboard

OK it's not rain because it will be dry for days and it still does it and its not coolant it is straight water and its cold too. So my assumption is that their is some type of plastic shrouding around the heater core or ac part whatever in the dashboard to catch the condensation and well this supposed shrouding is cracked and so all the condensation (the cold water) is leaking out of the shrouding and down the dashboard to the passengers foot area and pooling. Also it only does this when the AC is on yet another reason I'm making this assumption. Any idea's anyone and if I'm right whats involved in fixing it... I'm guessing removing the dashboard and replacing the shrouding if their is one.

wow never heard of this happening before, but yeah the heater core is right there, and ya got the inlet and outlet right at the firewall...perhaps the heater core is busted, it happens more than ya think. This will cause water to leak, but the strange thing is you say it happens only with the AC on, that really throws me off. Best thing to do is go under there and see where its coming from. I would check it while you have the car running and AC on, then start pulling under the dash apart, and see if you can immediately see anything.

Probably what I'll end up doing. Ive had heater cores go on other cars but its straight water not coolant i even check my coolant level everyday and its not budging at all. And my heating and cooling work amazing so I'm thrown for a loop right now I'm still going on this condensation shrouding of some type I believe is up in there.... I'll post up what it is when I find it might be a week kinda busy with my marine corps stuff right now gotta love collateral duties woohoo. thx for the input freshbake much appreciated.
