Full Version: wiper arm removal

In order to remove the wiper arm from the motor, am I correct in assuming that all you have to do is remove the nut and wiggle the arm assembly off, or am I missing something? My driver's side wiper arm is not seated far enough down on the motor bolt, but it wont tap any further down, nor can I wrench it down any more with the nut. The passenger side is obviously further down, and wipes adequately, while the driver's side is worthless at this point. Oh yeah, this is my 96 3.8 base Bird daily driver, not my 97 ws6 vert.
I figured I'd take the arm off and find out why it won't slide any further down. Suggestions? I'm tired of having to make at least 45 to get the rain-x to have effect!

If I remember correctly you raise the arm up and pull out a smell tab where it fastens on. That will hold up the arm and then you can lift it off of the splined shaft.
