Hey guy's, I was at a family get together Sun. and up rolls my cousin in a new Camaro, met. red( I forget the actual name of the color), V-8, 6m, upgraded stereo, 20'' Pirelli's, He special ordered the car. He already had a slp LM 2 installed,(sounded real good), is waiting on LT's, cold air intake and a tune when these parts become available. He claims these mods will take it from 426 hp to almost 500. Does this sound reasonable, or is he just blowing smoke? This is his first muscle car btw. Thahks,Dave

It sounds reasonable, based on the results that combo of bolt-ons get on other GM powerplants.

It'a a 2010 Camaro and the Color is Red Jewel tincoat.

And he should be close to 500 maybe more like 475-485 and yes that's at the Flywheel.

agree.gif 500 seems a tad high for those mods

it wouldnt suprise me with bolt ons for an ls3 to reach around 500 hp, im not sure about exhaust only...but with a cai, tune, pulleys, ect. i dont think itd be out of this world to get it done...too bad the things are sooo heavy! 500hp in that car would be almost comperable to a lighter example of a 400hp 4th gen...haha...

Good point about the weight factor Tom. Plus not to mention they look cool but in the same way that a new Challenger or a Mustang looks cool, they all look too much alike. I think our cars are way meaner sleeker and cooler looking than anything else out there, at least on a working man's budget jmo. Dave

Yeah 500 is a bit high i think. I'd say to get it there it would require exactly what Tom listed. These LS engines respond so well to mods, and the tune should put it close to the 500hp mark. But yeah they are waaay too heavy. I ran a new 2010 SS on a quick drag from a light about a month ago. I pretty much had him off the launch but once i got over 30 i kept pulling at a slow, but steady rate. I had him by a few cars (maybe 2) but I shut it down around 85 cause I don't want to get busted..i'm paranoid about that now. Point is, their weight KILLS them, if they weighted the same amount as the 4th gens, those things would be total beasts.

I'd rather have a slow-mo 76 455 T/A than a new Camaro.

Then again, a big reason these cars werent continued in 03 was due to the safety standards of 03...there's not much to these cars which is good for racing and fuel economy, but bad for crashing! sad.gif
