Full Version: 2010 Camaro
Does anyone know what the top end speed is of tne new Camaro with the 6.2 ltr V-8 with the 6m ? Any other info such as 1/4 mi. et. and trap speed would be appreciated. Thanks, Dave.
I've seen 3 or 4 SS's run at the 1/4 mile. All low 13's, I think 13.2 was the best. The manuals and autos are supposed to be about the same, I think the auto actually quicker down the 1/4 but with a slower mph. The manual goes faster with a slower time. go figure.

I've read that that some are running 12.80's at 109 or so.
Yea, those are probably right around the fastest times. But just like any other motor or car, you can't expect nearly all of them to run like that. I see a lot of LS1 fbodys running high 13's at the track consistently. My buddy's 2000 camaro SS with a vortech supercharger runs mid 12's consistently 
(yes, you read that right), but if you look online you can find some LS1 fbodies that run low 12's and some even claim very high 11's!!! Many LT1 cars don't or just barely break 14 even with a few bolt ons. Mine ran 13.6 with cai, rr's, exhaust, and bald tires. Plus when a motor is rated at say 426hp, that's one of the least powerful motors in the group of motors. Some make more, others, not as much. Motors are not precision built identical everytime.
Basically, what I'm trying to get across is that all cars are not created equal, I'm sure 12.80 is the record, just don't expect every 2010 SS to be a 12 second car.

Thank's for all the great info guys, but I'm still wondering about WOT top end. Seems to me it would be considerly less than our late model F -bodies not only because of the Camaro's extra weight , but mostly because of non aerodynamic shape, hioher ground clearance, and I believe shorter wheelbase. I would think that anything over 130-140 or so would be a hairy ride. 
yea, I know the ls3 vettes are up there in the 170ish range...but dnt think the camaros will be due to those factors you mentioned.
a bit off-topic....but I wouldn't mind having a blown Hennessey Camaro, any of you seen that thing? It's pretty sick
