Ok so i changed my rear brake shoes while changing the rear pinion bearing and seal on my 97 v6 firebird. Put it all back together and my brake light came on with first test drive. Light went off and now is staying on its the red brake light I think its for the parking brake. tryed pulling parking brake and release a couple of times and light is still on but the rear brakes worked fine. I just put new rotors and pads on the front about a month ago and both pistons looked fine at that time. My brakes feel a little soft tho when slowing down but the fluid is holding fine. are there any sensors in the rearend that could have gotten messed up or just unplugged while changing rearend components or brakes? any help is greatly appreciated.

Well my brake problem has gotten considerably worse over the past few months. I now think its probably the master cylinder going out. The brakes work ok, however if i have to apply a lot of pressure the brake light will come on, I can pump the brakes several times untill I feel a slight pop, like when you bleed the brakes and push an air bubble out of the line. just wondering if anyone has input on this. But we are pretty sure just needs a new master cylinder. maybe a bad seal or something. any input greatly appreciated. thanks

My first thought is did you bleed the system & check the fluid?
