so far this car has been nothing but problems. i just got it and already put 2500 into it and now the temp switch that got installed because the normal relay was messed up or something ( whoever owned it prior had it hardwired) is having problems..the fan wasnt coming on so i noticed the temp was high, i pulled over and there is a 30AMP fuse on the power wire to the switch. the fuse was blown so i took out my horn fuse which is a 20 AMP and as soon as i connected it, POP. the fuse blew. now idk if the 30AMP was blown from a surge or if there is a short...i looked all over and couldnt find a short. i traced the wiring all the way from the battery, to the switch, to the fans. nothing was wrong. so a buddy brought a fuse which was the last one..we kind of did process of elimintaion thinking one of the fan motors may be grounding out or something..so we unplugged the driver side fan....i put in the fuse and by this time the car was cooled down so the fan didnt kick on. so i cranked the car and let it run..when it reached proper temp the fan came on so the fan on the pass side is good. the wires are ran together for both fans so if there was an electrical short in the wiring it would have still popped the fuse. since the other fan was unplugged i figured that maybe the fan is bad itself and causing the fuse to blow. BUT idk if that is what will happen when a fan motor is bad or not....i wanted to connect the other fan back while it was running but i needed to get to my friends house so i left it alone..i will try to connect it tomorrow since i have more fuses and see if it pops..if it does than it has to be the driver's side fan for sure....right guys? lol

One fan works with the cooling system and one works with the A/C. I wonder if hooking them together is drawing excessive amps when they turn on? If one fan works ok by itself I bet thats the problem. You can try hooking the other fan up by itself and see if the fuse pops. If it does not blow it's likely that the two together are blowing it. You need an inexpensive manual from a parts store so you will have a wiring diagram.

Both the fans are triggered on temp. Without looking it up I don't remember the trigger temps but the second one is up there. Like was previosuly posted the AC will trigger the secondary fan on. With the AC off it's only trigger is temp. These cars run HOT! How hot is it getting?

i have the temp switch set at like 160 so the fan kicks on because theres only one but its been cool out so it runs about right like almost 210

If my car ran at 210 without the AC on in traffic I'd be a happy man. Mine will get up in the 225-230 range before the secondary fan kicks in and it starts dropping back down around 200-210. AC on is a different thing all together.

It will only get up that high if I'm sitting in traffic with the AC off and it doesn't stay up there long, it will bounce between 200-230ish.

Of course I'm in Florida, it's a rare occassion that I'm driving with the AC off.

Yea just becasue the thermostat is a 160 doesn't mean the car's gonna run 160, that's just when it opens. If you're running around 210 you're fine dude.
