411.s would really wake the car up. Do you have the basics done like a C.I.A., headers, and a tune,etc...?

I just bought the car for 3200.00 and the only thing the guy done before me was an bbk elbow and took off egr stuff. but he has the gears and msd hes letting me have with the car. im thinking about a cam and roller rockers. i just dont know what to do on this newer stuff. you give me an old carb engine and i can do wonders with it.

I'm also ''old school'' myself. The cars today are definently more difficult to wrench on than the cars back in the ''60's and ''70's. The main difference being fuel injection ,electronic ignition , computers, and all the sensors. This being said though, a small block is still pretty much the same internally. You can still do heads/cam etc... for a significant hp increase. The possibilities are only limited by your imagination, mechanical skills, and your wallet laugh.gif speed= $$$.

Yeah i know, my mechanical skills are up there but this fuel injection always gets me. My 97 cobra spoiled me. I bought it with mods done already it dynoed at 330 to the wheels. it was quick. I just want this firbird to be like it was. I love my gm stuff. Tne cobra was only my second ford to own. I just want to put a good hittin cam in the car that will wake it up a little and get looks because of the sound. Where is the best place to get these parts and what should i start with?

Check with your local speed shop if you have one. If you go the online/mailorder route, I know Edelbrock has head cam combos that are engineered to work together. Also for cams, Crane, Lunati come to mind. I would do some research/checking online to find out which brands/combinations provide the most hp gains without sacrificing streetability.

What would be a good size cam to use in my car. I was looking to go with a COMP Cams 07-306-8 - COMP Cams Xtreme Energy Camshaft. Camshaft, Hydraulic Roller Tappet, Advertised Duration 290/307, Lift .510/.540, Chevy, LT1/LT4.
