ok well my center console only lets me pull it down to 2nd i know its the shifter set up in the car i just wonder has anyone changed the stock shifter to let you pull it down into first , that way i can shift from 1st to 2nd my self?

Ya I believe on some of our cars with 273 gears GM installed a small plastic tab near the shifter to prevent it from being pulled down in to 1st gear. You need to pull the console up and cut the tab off. Easy to do, I think somewhere on here there is a illustration showing this. Hope this helps, Dave.
