The paint on my '94 formula has a few swirls. light scratch marks..i have tried every new scratch remover, tried the clay bar, but no luck, paint is one year old, never has nor will see winter or a car wash....

any tips to remove swirls or light scatches (surface scratches) on black paint.....thet are only visible in direct sunlight, but there are none on the rest of the car, and i'd like them gone!

My son who is a bodyman buffed out and rewaxed my Bird which is NBM in color. Took out all the swirls, scatches, etc... does this by removing a small layer of the clearcoat. Looks fantastic, better than ever and mine is the original 9 year old paint! As you probably allready know, black is the highest maintenance color there is, shows EVERY imperfection. I would check around for an experianced bodyman/painter someone you can trust, and ask to see cars he has painted and worked on before proceding with this. This is the reason I let my son do the work, besides being my car is willed to him, plus the price was right biggrin.gif It took him about 5 hours to do the excellant job that he did. Good luck. Dave

Ever tried Zaino products? They have a huge line of polishes for cars, top of the line stuff. They have one polish that is a swirl remover, and i gotta say it's the BEST stuff i've ever used. You don't have to use a buffer or anything..it's unbelievable. I used it on my friends black Dakota a while back that had tons of swirls...took them all out! That's what i would recommend...

I've never tried the Zaino products, but I can tell you by direct experiance though that the ''scratch removal '' products by Scratch off, Nu Finish, Mother's, and even Meguiar's are not effective on even the slightest scratches.

Meguiar's Swirl-X works pretty good for removing most swirls but can leave ultra-fine swirls in the process (as most abrasives do). Follow up with 3M Hand Glaze, then some wax (avoid cleaner waxes if possible).

That's what I usually do, paint looks great when I'm done.
