ok, my formula has the stock LB9 with 119k, runs great but i want more power, so i figure not to mess with the 305 and go bigger. What I want to do is build a 383 and transfer my intake and all that over to the new block. What all would I need to do this? I'm thinking everything will bolt right up, but i've been wrong before. This is my first time doing a whole motor so bear with me, i may ask a dumb question or two. Also, would i have to get a computer out of a 350 car to do this? Head, cam suggestions? Header suggestions? anything would help. Thanks

if you want more power you can keep the 305, just swap the camshaft for a bigger one. and you might want to go for some headers, too.

nothing wrong with building a 305, my 305 is 10.41 compression and pulls 216 hp/ 326 at the rear wheels and this is with the totally stock TPI intake system.

remember, if you go too big your going to need a tune and finding folks that tune on these cars are starting to wane. another thing, i highly sugguest aganst a mail order burn. a live burn will get your car closer than any mail order burn. if your wanting a lil more umph and not deal with tuning i sugguest a comp 08-300-8 cam and 981 springs, you will also have to change pushrods most likely.

we put this cam in a friends 88 gta with a 350 and it ran killer. as the prev poster mentioned, HEADERS. this is the single best mod you can do for a TPI car. its noticable by itself after install. i sugguest the hooker 2055 header. they dam near fall into place and get the matching Y pipe. the headers have a ball and socket system where the collector mounts to the Y pipe so no more gaskets to deal with down there. i have these headers and i love em.
