Full Version: Oil in radiator

So my 01 Trans Am has oil mixed in with the anti-freeze, the radiator is full of it but engine does not have anti-freeze in it. So now I need to figure out where it is coming from. So does anyone have any ideas on where to look first? I was thinking the Intake manifold first and than check for a blown head gasket. Only problem is I'm not really sure how ti check either one of those. So any advice would help.

(yes I'm replying to myself) So my car is a WS6, which means it should have a power steering cooler, and my power steering fluid has been low for a few months to where i'm adding a bottle a month, but i don't see any leaks. So I'm betting it's leaking into my radiator from the power steering cooler. Does that make sense, is it possible? Sounds easier to check than a head gasket.

A head gasket can be ruled out with a compression check. Your guess is as good as mine about the power steering. I would think if it keeps getting low that could be a possibility.

I'm betting on the PS cooler leaking into the radiator hose. It's been known to happen before and IMO it isn't a very good design.

Well since we all agree I will change the power steering cooler I priced it at auto zone and it costs $20. I will let you all now if it fixes it.
