Tadushi Toyoda, Toyota's Chief Software Engineer, has announced a fix for the Sudden Acceleration Syndrome frequently, and infrequently experienced by American drivers. Acknowledging that Toyota has absolutely no idea what the heck is wrong with their American engineered Toyota Camery, Prius, and lots of other cars that they make, and also concurring that Toyota is owned 41% by American GM, Toyota dealerships have been quietly fixing most cars, left by their owners for an oil change, by replacing the entire engine/transmission system with 1993+ Firebird/ Camaro LT1 or LS1 drivetrains equipped with a 2002 PCM. "To make them SMOG legal" according to Toyoda.

It seems that fixing the cars this way was a "sure thing". The only hitch came about when some owners noticed that their cars were returned with a 6 spd manual transmission vice the auto that they were brought in with. Again, Toyoda meant to assure American drivers that this transmission swap was in their best interest and was of the latest Toyota approved design.

However, some owners of 2010 Prius cars started reporting brake failure problems when their cars suddenly accelerated a bit faster than before, and kept right on accelerating like BS from a salesman even though the brakes were applied. So, once again, according to Toyoda: "we will fix the problem at no expense to the owners". However, Toyoda did not mention...how that would be done. laugh.gif
