I have a trouble code on my 1996 pontiac trans am with a lt1, the code is p0336. I just did timing set opti spark and crank sensor, very frustrated!
I know this is a crank sensor fault but what exactly do i have to do everything is new. Car seens to run fine. What is my next step?

Just left dealership. They checked everything and came up with a worn timing chain and gears. I know there new so it must be something else. The only thing i can think of that would cause play in my timing chain is a bad cam front bearing. Not good.

How many miles are on the motor, and if I may ask what was the original problem that justified changing out the opti, crank sensor and the timing set? Dave.

I just pulled the front end off my lt1 to channge the cam and the timing chain and gears were as strong as the new ones i bought when I broke the chain trying to get it off. There is a little play in the timing chain when the car is off, at least on mine. If the timing chain is new I really wouldnt worry about that. Another thing I noticed was the crank sensors seal. It is a flimsy O-ring that warped. I put some RTV silicone on it and all leaks disappeared.

I'm getting the same code.. Will have to look into the timing chain and see if it needs to be replaced soon..
