i have a 96 TA and when i turn to the left, (worse when turning sharp) i hear a loud screeching noise like metal on metal. i just replaced the brakes and rotors not long ago so that cant be it, i dont see anywhere that is visible where metal is grinding on metal. it only does this when i turn left for some reason and it really weird. im worried my tire is goung to fall off or something lol some help would be awesome since the past 3 posts ive posted, noone replied but has about 60 veiws a piece lol thanks guys

Turning left? It could ba any number of problems. The first that I would check would be the wheel bearings--too much slop is allowing the brake rotor to rub on the brake pads. You should raise both rear tires off the ground and wiggle the tires up and down. Any play and that means bad bearings and more than likely worn out axles as well. Another problem could be the limited slip clutch plates--that means it needs an overhaul.

What were the other problems that didn't get answered?

Hope this answer helps.

okay thanks man i will check that out and see whats up, but if i kind of put my foot on the rear tire that schreeches, and press firmly it does look and feel like it moves inwards. but the other questins were "is a 1991 formula AC compressor and one from a 96 trans am compatible?" my ac compressor is bad and i have a 1991 formula with perfectly good AC that is why i am wondering. ALSO, i just posetd a thread about my transmission or clutch. When i try and put my car in hear i have to literally force it in gear and sometimes it will either grind or i can hear a thud and feel the car move a little bit. Reverse is very stubborn right now, it took me about 15 trys to get it in gear and when it went in, it grinded like i didnt even have the clutch pressed in at all. when i shift from gear to gear, it feels as the shifter almost wants to stop before going in place and i have to FORCE it in place.

I don't think the A/C compressors are compatible--one used R12 the newer uses R134--completely different refrigerant. However, it is supposed to be possible to convert over to the 134. You should check with an A/C shop and ask for several opinions on this.

On the clutch/transmission problem, it could be the clutch not fully releasing (bad hydraulic slave cylinder) and/or bad synchros within the transmission. Either way, if the problem is not fixed, the transmission could be damaged or, if the syncrhros are already worn out, it already needs repair.

Sooooooo yah, i got my car back from the shop and i had them look at the rear tire for the screeching noise but they said "OH, IT'S FINE..YOURE TIRE IS JUST RUBBING ON THE BODY WHEN U TURN THATS ALL" HAHAHAHA deff. NOT!!! they said that they couldnt find anything else besides that which is from my ties hitting the body when i have ppl in teh back seat due to huge tires. but that doesnt screech, it makes a rubbing sound thats all..this is a loud, ear piercing noise and its getting louder and louder..gets really annoying especially when there is some hott chicks on the side of the road and i come down the street and i know theyre thinking " DAAAANNNGGG THAT CAR IS SWEET" until i take a left turn and theyre like " UGHHH WHAT A POS!" grrrrrr...

Did you check if the brake pads are worn out? Could be the metal to metal screech that happens when the pads get below a safe level. I'd also check bearings by removing the rear axle--if there is any wear where the roller bearing rolls on the axle, then both should be replaced.
