my 96 TA (manual trans) has been acting weird.. i was driving the other day and i noticed that when i went to shift while at a stop, the shifter would not want to go in gear even with the clutch to the floor. It would pretty much just stop right before going into gear and i have to force it in and when it goes in, it will sometimes make a clunking noise and i can feel the car try to roll forward for a second or it will grind a little bit. I had to reverse and it took me about 15 trys to get it into reverse. when it finally went it, it grinded like i didnt even have the clutch pressed in or something. I have no idea whats goin on here..sometimes it will shift normal and others it will not want to go into gear at all, i have to literally FORCE the shifter into place.

When its hard to go into gear, hold pressure on the shifter and ease the clutch out and see if it will pop on in there. Grinding is usually a sign of a bad synchronizer.

talked to the mechaninc today and he said that my PILOT BEARING is bad and i need a new one. they tried talking me into replacing the clutch but if it isnt worn out there is no need to spend the extra money. If i do have to replace it, woukd a stock clutch be efficient for my car?? i have some mods like cam,lt4 intcke, throttle body, full exhaust w no cats, intake and a tune. not sure about the exact horsepower yet. does anyone know the horsepower ratings for a stock clutch??
