I went with NGK TR55 IX Iridium Spark Plugs and MSD Ignition 32819 Super Conductor spark plug wire set. I spent alot of time on several other forums where I was able to garnish some info. Thought I would post this response for the next guy or gal looking for a great set up for their formula! A good step by step tech article for changing plugs in a 4th gen is at www.fbodyowners.com/tech/sparkplugs/
These are the wrong wires for your car--not enough resistance. Voltage fires the plugs, and voltage is measured thru a resistance...the higher the resistance, the more voltage, up to a point that is available for firing the plugs. GM specifies 2000 ohms per foot. Anything more or less and the ignition system is thrown out of balance and the plugs won't fire properly. Lower the wire resistance and current is generated to make up for the lower voltage. However, the voltage still must be generated to jump the gap. As a result, what you get is a high current and less voltage. The coil runs hot and the extra current erodes the spark plugs. Stick with the stock OEM type wires. NGK Iridium spark plugs are great.
