Let's face it, Firebirds are going up in value and they will continue to go up. Chevy's new Camaro isn't selling all that well, and the CF4 Firebirds and Camaros are going to be the only real competition for that car. That makes your car vulnerable to theives and looka here: http://www.youtube.com/watch_popup?v=CMz1tXBVT1s

Into your garage in just 6 seconds. I tried it and got into mine in 15 seconds flat! There are supposedly magnetic or solenoid operated dead bolts that can be bolted onto any garage door and work with the door's remote, but I haven't found anything like that (Viper makes one, but only available with their electric garage door opener).

Maybe someone else can find this and post a link. Saw the deadbolt on a video, but that particular video does not show up anymore.

Since this is now on a video, theives are probably watching it and your garage doors are no longer safe.

I heard of this happening but, never had seen it. Wow!

We own an auto repair shop and just moved to a building with door openers on the roll up bay doors. We ended up putting slide latches on them with padlocks.

Scary stuff, but I'm skeptical that a thief would be able to do that on a garage door that didn't have windows, since he/she wouldn't be able to get a reference point for that hook.

Thanks for the heads up though! smile.gif

Yeah, I agree, but did you see that the garage door had windows? I think the release can be seen thru the windows...maybe. Anyway, it's food for thought. Without windows, the breaking-in guy would be hunting around, and maybe the release arm could be found....

My brother-in-law has windows on his garage doors, although not many want a Toyota Prius LOL, what with their braking problems, etc., but he wrapped the release arm with masking tape so that a hook could not get a grip. If it works, it's a cheap fix.
