Is there a step-by-step or written instruction on removing the interior door panel for a 1994 Firebird? If anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it.

Dylan,

Let's see if I can remember the way it is done. Remove the small black trim screw for the door handle trim and remove the trim--easy does it, there is a small connector for the little blue light that must be twisted to remove, and the door lock button must be pried off--it does come off, only uses some little detents molded into the back of the button and it will pop off a wire rod that goes back to the door lock mech. Remove the one screw that holds that window trim piece, black, at the front of the window lower corner and remove the trim piece--one screw and some funny little nylon stick things hold it in place. Pry up carefully on the electric window control trim piece and it will pop up--uses spring clips to hold in place, then detach the electric window connector--good idea to disconnect the negative battery terminal before doing this. If I remember correctly, there are 4 big screws that must come out--two at the door handle and two down in the storage pocket. I think that is it, then lift straight up on the door panel and it should come off it's clips.

However, putting it back on is a thrill a minute...oh yeah. Somehow you have to get all those clips that are on the back of the panel into the proper slots, all at the same time or it won't mount on the door correctly. Can't remember if a speaker had to be disconnected or not, maybe it does, check it out. Some of those clips (they are plastic clips permanently molded into the back of the door panel, so don't pull outwards, pull straight up or they will break) are very hard to put into their slots, becuz they are in the middle of the door panel. My right side panel popped right into place, but the driver's side, what a pain.

Yep.......orrrrr, just use the biggest screwdriver you can find, and have new replacement panels to put back on....... wink.gif

Take your time like Charles said, and you'll be fine.

www.shbox.com...look under R&R window motor.

it wasn't that bad...the door lock is tricky to get back on.
