i have a 98 formula with a LS1 and a 6 speed the car is stock and am thinking of swapping for a Ls7 i know they are similar and can be swapped.. now here some things i need help with what do i have to change. with the wiring harness are the same are they not? and the chip should have to be change due to the timing ? . any problems that mite pop up
plz help with the details. and tips or tricks that mite help

Go to Speartech.com and ask. They do swaps like this.

LS1 = Gen III LS7 is Gen IV
Thought they are physically similar there are changes. Cam sensor is moved to the front on Gen IV's and requires an extension harness same goes for the knock sensors. The cam and crank reluctor wheels are different and incompatible with the others ECM unless you buy the Lingenfelter translator box. LS1 is cable throttlebody LS7 is ETC. And I'm just touching the basic's.
Bottom line the LS7's power can be made with another cheaper (then $14K) engine pkg. JMO
