LOL ..Good post Jon.
I really wish I had a good 1 like that. It seems that when I drive the car, not very many people want to mess with it. Something like a nuclear deterent thing. Anyone who has a fast car or knows anything about cars like these know they are land missles. Usually if some kid in a "Daddy bought me this Mustang as a grad present" car pulls up besides me, they might try, but usually not. They like to bet on a surething as they'll have a few buddies with them and can't take the chance of getting totally embarassed. I think the alloy rims, pearl paint and exhuast tone scare them off. I just leave the light normally,( well I ride the clutch a bit so they get a pretty good blast of the growl it gives off), and low and behold at the next light, there is no way they want any part of it.
Now after going through that, you'll have to understand, I bought this car as a summer toy for my girlfriend. She seems to have lots of people that want to go against her. Our kids have big mouths and they can't wait to tell me what happened when Mom drives. She loves the car and gets a kick out of some of the things that happen out on the road.
A guy and his girlfriend / wife pull up beside her. The guy is looking over at her in the bird and the next thing there is an argument going on and some dirty looks from the girl. ( Never happens to me? I don't know why??

...)
People pull up besides her on the road while she cruising along and ask her," Does it go?" She'll just usually answer " Ya, not too badly". Next thing you know, the guy besides her is trying to hop his car to see if she'll hit it. Alot of times there's a car in front of her. She just looks at the guy , holds out her hand palm up, and points to the car in front of her and tells him," C'mon, are you kidding me?"
She has all sorts of luck. You wouldn't believe some of the people that want to mess around. She's has people in mini-vans try to take her off of lights, Kids in Neon's, VW Rabbits, the list is amazing!! She doesn't go looking for it. It just seems that most are willing to try and impress their friends that they might have a chance beat a car like that due to the fact that a woman is driving it. I almost feel discriminated against because of it. Usually if the car is something that may have a little to it, she'll take off from the light normally, (she's trying to get better at launching) shift at her normal points like she's not trying, and when she gets besides them and they're engines are winding up, looks over , smiles, and puts her foot in it . After that, it's pretty much game over. They'll pull up beside her at the next light ,or when she slows down, look over, smile and nod approvingly, or just pull off to avoid the embarassment.
One night some kids in a Neon were trying to get her to go. She just let them speed away. A little further up the road, someone in a new Celica did it and she totally sucked the decals and headlights off it. The oldest couldn't understand why she wouldn't "Do" the neon, but wax the Celica? She calmly told him that the Neon would be a waste of gas and rubber, where as the Celica was worth it due to the fact the guy thought it was fast and they do have a bit of jam. (What a good girl)
Needless to say, I wish I had something to personally offer, but I can't. Don't ask me why? Her on the other hand gets lots!! As long as my kids are terrible at keeping their mouths shut, I always have some great stories.
I guess that's one of the crosses we have to bear when we own these great cars. It's like the benchmark that everyone measures their cars against? I'm not complaining. They're having a good time, makes them happy, and these are some of the things that they'll remember for the rest of their lives. I can't imagine what my 8 yr. old daughter says when other parents ask her about Mommies car? I know it puts a smile on my face.
There are other stories like the killing of the Stealth and others. There's a few others that I proably don't know about. For the most part we drive the car normally. We don't need to smoke the tires at every light. The car looks as fast sitting in the parking lot as it does just hauling home the groceries. Heck, I have a hard time in getting the keys from her to take it if I want and I'm the 1 who owns it! Even I have a hard time deceiding if I want to take my bike or the bird? I keep trying. "Can I take the.." " NO!" Ya..that's what I thought."
Well I've got a plan...

. I have a second bike and I plan to teach her how to ride it. I'll tell her on the nice days when I feel like I want to take the car that she should practice on the bike.
That may backfire though. I might come home and find she's been riding my new one!!

Oh well, that might be the chance I'm going to have to take to drive the car myself before winter comes again...lol
