How bout a RPO decoder where you simply pick your year and enter in the RPO codes that were optioned on your car.. and it returns the information?

That would be great. type in vin and all the rpo codes and get a complete run down.

RPO codes are "Requested" or "Regualr Production Order" Codes, they are usually listed on a sticker on the inside of your drivers-side door, or in your glove compartemnt.... they are a sort of cryptic alpha-numeric listing which, when cross referenced w/ a manual, or RPO Decoder, will tell you all sorts of things about the options your car came with from the factory.... basically all the options that you can't infer, or are otherwise not important enough to be referenced in the VIN (Vheicle Identification Number...) That make any sence?

additionally, since you have two 3rd gens, go here:
http://www.thirdgen.org/cgi-bin/rpo/viewall.pl ...... that should give you a better idea of what all the RPO Codes can tell you, once you locate the sticker... lol... have fun!

Thanks fellas! Makes perfect sense now. I believe I remember seeing those in the 2nd Gen tech forum. Those little 3 digit codes that belong to something on the cars.

I have a complete run down of all the RPO codes for a 1990 Firebird, straight out of the 1990 Pontiac Firebird Service Manual. But, being that you have a 90 as well, you probably already have that one. Let me know if I can help with any of the 2nd gen stuff. I have a few sources I can tap for that. Although I'm not sure how much it will cover. I would have to check to see which years I can get.

Is there a way to tell what number of a production run one is?

You can tell what # Firebird you have in that year, but not what # Formula it is. You can tell that by the VIN#.

I've run the decoder on the codes for my car from thirdgen.org as mentioned above, and get a couple of unknown ones:
Unable to locate code R6P in our database!
1SZ : ???
Does anyone know what the above codes represent? It's a 92 Formula.
Cheers,
-Roger
