I've seen other sites that have a section just for people to list thier mods and 1/4 mile times. Like a 15 second club,14 second club,ect..Can we do something like this?I just thought it would be neat.

That's a neat idea Tyler. I know on another site they have a section where there's listing for the "Top 25". It's broken down by N/A, power adder and generation. So you have Top 25 2nd gen N/A, Top 25 3rd gen N/A, Top 25 4th gen N/A, Top 25 2nd gen power adder, Top 25 3rd gen power adder and Top 25 4th gen power adder.

As for having to post your timeslip, that would be good, but what about members who don't have scanners? But yea, it would have to be track times not any of that G-tech I might run this stuff.

If they don't have a scanner then mail it in. That is about as close to keeping people honest. Because I have seen on other sites car with no mods beating everthing. Just keep a honest person honest. It is easy to get carried away. Almost like hunting and fishing stories.

It's been awhile since I've been to the site that had it broken down that way. But on http://www.fastlouis.com if you go to the forum page and look under Dragstrip/Autocross at the very top of that forum they have a post that is titled "Top 25".

I dont think there is anyway to keep people from cheating if they want too. Who is to say your friend in his power adder car gives or lets you copy his time slip? If someone wants to cheat they can - I say who cares they arnt gettin any money or anything for it and we ought to know my nearly stock Formie didnt really get that 8.13 in the quarter right?
To post a time the sig must have mods included to be believeable.

That is what I said. To keep a honest man honest. A liar will be a liar no matter what you do. Just like a theif. You don't put a alarm on your car to keep a theif out. If a car theif wants in your car they will get in. But it will give some people something twice to think about. Too much law enforcement experience coming through. Sorry.

What if a dedicated thread is opened under an already obvious section - Time Slips and Numbers - at least to get it started right now anyway. If at some time in the future a more viewable "top ten" list is created, we will have a database to pull from. Just make it a thread that is limited to the best numbers your car acheived and limit the comments to nothing more than the conditions the run was made under. formula90 has been tossing around the idea of a mod specific profile option that would tell you the story of any given car. I'll go start the thread, give me a minute...

Some of us have only ever ran 1/8ths, so please allow a section for this if a top list ever does come together. Not that I would make it to the list or anything .

Maybe it could be pinned to the top of the Time Slips and Numbers page with a revised title that reads something a little more, maybe "Your Bird's Best E.T." You know, kinda like making it more descriptive and visible so hopefully as many people that see it will post their time.

I guess I'm tooting my own horn by wanting to post a lousy timeslip, but at least it doesn't take 100s of words and repeat it over and over and over and over and over and over!!!!!! Now What!


While I'm hot, I vote for no "glorified" pics of proud 'stang owners ride in a sig on a GM site. I'm not even a Ford hater, but they have a place to post their pics where someone would expect them. That place isn't TFS, not how I see it. Bet I'm not alone . If I rag on a true enthusiast member like MxPx69_1984 for posting a pic of a Celica, I can't let this one ride either

if you wanted.. i could make a way to upload a scanned image then post the image in the post.. but before i did that.. there would have to be a big interest with it...

you could always post the scaned image to car domain then link the image in your post here.. they allow image leaching..

I understand that the title of any given forum says what you should find by clicking there, all we're saying(I think I speak for others) is that this thread(for now) be a place to list your best time slip numbers. Maybe sometime in the future with enough interest and responses a few top performers lists could be created from everyone's posted best time. Some people include their best e.t. in their sig, but not all. At least here will be a place where all these numbers can hopefully come together neatly.

I haven't mentioned anything about having to post a time slip from a scanner to validate someone's claim, but I could see the possibility of some big egoes taking advantage of that and fudging numbers. It is a shame, but some people, well, you never know. Thing is any given day and track can produce vastly different results from very similar cars, so even if validated by a legit time slip, it should be taken with a grain of salt. Physics will tell you how fast a car weighing X amount with Y power will have the potential to perform over any given distance. Plain telling it how it is: I can smell BS!

Not only what Jon said but those of us who go to the track will usually be able to tell when someone is telling a tall tale with their time and speed. We've all heard of "factory freaks" that put down incredible numbers stock but those are few and far between and most of us know what kind of increases you'll usually get from different mods done to our cars. So for now I say, let them post up their timeslip numbers without having to prove it with posting a copy of their slip. If someone isn't telling the truth, I'm sure we'll be able to tell.

I was thinking something along the lines of a grid.One for each second. Like there would be a 15 second grid,a 14,13,and so on. There could be the members name which you could click on and it will show thier profiles along with whatever mods are done. Then the 60' time,1/8th and mph,then 1/4 with mph.

hmm.. I got something in mind for this plus a whole lot more... I am requesting a month long leave of absense from work so i can get this site to a more finished product..
