WS6Freak
I click on "Ownwers Gallery" at the top of the page, go to "LS1 Powered Formulas" then "2001" and my gallery isn't there.

Even if I go to the gallery via my profile there are no pics there.....

Formula90, i don't want to bother you, I know you're working hard on the site. My suggestions is keep the galleries a few clicks away from visitors and members categorized by year model. If someone wants to have non related pics they should create a personal web site. When it comes to clicks, less is more wink.gif cool.gif
formula90
tonight i am recoding that entry page it brings you to when you click on the gallery link.. but even now as it is layed out..

here just look at the image to see... smile.gif
Tyler
I must be a real bone head cause I cant find my gallery pics anywhere. I'll wait till you say your finished with it then I'll look again unsure.gif
formula90
if a member wants to see a specific year of formula.. then they are no more than three clicks away.. you are right about that..

If a member wants to see some photos that the member has uploaded to there peronal album.. then they have three ways of doing this.. either by clicking on the link in there posts or profile page.. or by browsing the member albums page..

We dont have visitors coming from places looking for pics by a member by the name of formula90.. we have members coming here looking for pictures of a 1990 Formula.. and they will have this at there disposal by clicking on owners gallery->THird Generation->1990 3 clicks..

We will be pulling the best images from the user galleries over to the main catagories as they fill up... if we stayed with the other method.. who knows when we would have gotten all those second generation phots filled... and to fill them.. it would take members that owned second generation models...

I am attempting to more closely knit the albums into the main catagories.. as a matter of fact.. when I get the chance.. i will add the option of adding the album to a sub catagory...
SassySue09
Oh WOW Jon, that is so cool. cool.gif It's easy to find all of the pics now. You are THE MAN Jon.

If anyone can't figure out how to find your pics, get ahold of me and I'll explain it to you. smile.gif
Tyler
Ok,I see them. Considering I've been sneezing my head off for 3 hours now I'm amazed I can see at all. Seems a bit more complicated but once I understand what you mean it's no big deal.
formula90
hehehehe.. like I said.. i am restyling this page tonight so it will better illustrate what is going on there...

go ahead.. post a pic of a wrecked firebird in the Our Former Formulas
cat.. then revisit your gallery link... you will start to see what I mean.. it threw me off as well at first becasue there was nothing there untill I started uploading the photos of the generations...

Formula90,

I have 2 quick questions:

1) Is it possible to offer sorting by year model under Owner's Gallery->Member's Gallery?

2) Will our galleries show up again under Owner's Gallery->Generations->Year Model? If not, how to upload again to that section? I can't see an option to upload there. I think this path is the best one for people to quickly find the cars they want to see. It's very intuitive. Gallery, Generation, Year Model, BINGO!..... smile.gif

I can answer the second part of your question for you. Sorry to say but no, you won't be able to upload pics to the Generation galleries.

As of right now, for the Generation galleries, those are going to be more of a tech section then an area that is used to highlight our cars. Those areas are going to be used to post pics of each type of Formula (and only Formulas) that was available from the factory for each year. Hopefully this is what will happen. A pic of each stock exterior/interior color combination with hardtop/t-top/convertible combo and stock rims will be found and one pic of that combo will be posted in the appropriate section - example: 3rd gen section, 1987 model - red exterior/light grey interior/t-tops, red exterior/light grey interior/hardtop, black exterior/grey interior/t-tops, black exterior/grey interior/hardtop, etc. So that way if someone comes here looking for what colors/roof/rims were available for each year all they'll have to do is page thru that year to see what an original stock model looked like. So say if someone comes here and has a 1979 Formula that they are redoing and they need to know what the original stock one looked like they'd only have to go to the 2nd gen gallery, click on 1979 and voila, there would be all the pics they'd need to see to know what theirs should look like. Kind of neat huh?
WS6Freak
That is very cool. I didn't know that gallery would be for pics of all stock cars.

Knowing that, I think the member's galleries should offer some kind of year model search. I usually go there looking for cars that are similar to mine and it takes a lot of time to search browsing through the whole thing, page by page.

A search by year model would solve this problem. Just my .02 cents biggrin.gif
formula90
if this is the case.. the all members should refrain from changing the name of their album from the year model. I will go back ro the drop down menu instead.. and if i have to.. since the amount of galleries are not much.. I will go ahead and go from one to one and change it back to strickly a year model. I would need to do this to throw a search query at the database to produce good results...

or.. I will just have a drop dow menu at the bottom of the main album page where you will be able to just select a year from the drop down the hit search and will come back with a list of links to the albums. But I am afraid this will be the extent of it for now.. it wont be broken down by generation...

I think this would be perfect.... By the year model people would be able to find cars fast and enjoy the pics. If one particular year model has several galleries, it's ok, browsing through the filtered year model is way easier... This site rocks man, by far the best on the net for F-Bodies. smile.gif smile.gif
Blackbird Jon
I agree that the year model is the most important factor as well. When I first created an album I thought that it asked what year model it was for, which left me free to be creative with the name of my album since it was going to such-n-such a year automatically. Anyway, no problem there, if need be I can go back and change the title of the album to spell it out.

As far as the generation galleries being a place for "available from the factory for each year," I don't know if that is worthwhile or even possible. I mean I can see merits, especially as a database for a niche vehicle like a Pontiac Formula Firebird, but in reality more cars have probably varied from stock configuration now as opposed to being showroom fresh so for the most info to be included, all owner's cars should have a place in the generation galleries. By all means go after as many OEM pics as possible, just label them so that if that is indeed what someone is after, they'll know where to find it. All I care about is to put a car with a name here from TFS. Anyway, if it supposed to be about all stock, well, the only generation gallery that I viewed was for the 1993 model, and the first pic is of a yellow w/ black stripes and chrome wheels Formula, so what's up with that?!?!?! huh.gif unsure.gif
SassySue09
The pics that are in the Generations Galleries right now are the pics that were posted in the original Owners Gallery that formula90 took down last year (blink.gif was it actually that long ago?!?) that he put up again last night. So no, most of those that are in there right now aren't stock (heck some of them aren't anywhere near stock lol). But we're hoping in the future that the ones that go there will at least look stock, from the outside view anyway wink.gif
WS6Freak
If you guys need some pictures for the galleries, I have at least one for each year model, some good quality, some so-so quality. I can .rar them and email.
SassySue09
If they're pics of stock exterior and interior colors yea we can use them. Go ahead and email them to me. I'll get them up when I can. Just be sure to let me know which years they are. Thanks
400hpbird
So it seems most of the pics are up in the year galleries now. Ive read everything ya'll have been talking about so does that mean there are still a few you are going to put in there? Or did ya just pick a few from the old gallery to put up for now?

We will get it as close as we can. smile.gif I do believe that breaking them down like that might be aliitle short of impossible.. but what we would like to see is close to stock at least formulas broken down for each year.. i dont know about colors though.. but over time this will get closer and closer to the end result... hopefully... and if there are member Formulas that we see that should belong in there.. then by all means we will pick from them first.. I belive the members cars should represent as much of those cars as possible..

That is also what I was thinking. What the pic needs to show clearly is as much of the exterior and the interior as possible. That way when someone looks at the pic they'll be able to tell not only the exterior color but clearly see the interior color as well and be able to tell that it is one color as opposed to another color (ie dark blue vs. black).
formula90
ok. I will reopen a new topic for this since the topic of this one has been taken care of..
