I just got home from the pontiac nationals at norwalk raceway, what a good show by the way. I scored a sweet deal on some excellant condition ZR1 wheels with some bald goodrich comp t/a R1 tires. i guess the guy said he used them for road racing. you wont believe how much i paid for all 4! $200 cash!!! they look cool as **** on my formula. Well my real question is where can i get some 275/40 17 tires for a good price? If anyone knows that would be cool if could let me know where from.
thanks

You can get good deals at
www.tirerack.com and at www.tires.com (Discount tires direct)
I got my all four of my 275/40/17's Falken GRBeta FK451's for
$582 to my door (tires.com)!!! These are "Y" rated tires with uni-
directional tread and a "AA" traction rating. I was very pleased
with my tires and the service. Oh, did I mention that that price includes
4 free replacement certificates and that the tires arrived at my doorstep
TWO days later.
Good luck,

Yes...replacement certificates. In case you get
a nail in the tire or run over a curb and the tire
is ruined they replace it for free.

I have bought tires from both tirerack.com and tires.com. Both had good service.
Check the pricing on both places, One offers free shipping.
tirerack.com definetely has a wider selection and more info on the tires.
Take a look at the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3s if you are looking for a Maximum Performance tire (summer only). I had a set on my WRX and loved the looks, performance and wear. I've heard Falken 512s are great for a low cost tire.
If you go to Tires.com, they have a great feature where it gives you the PLUS 0, PLUS 1, etc sizes. For example, the stock size on my 78 TA is 225/70 15, but they give you a safe upgrade option in plus 0, so I got 255/60 15s that work great.
Get some FAT rubber on those ZR1 spokes!

I don't know about the Falken 512's, but I have the Falken 502's, they suck in the rain and are slick as snot, they're not too bad in dry weather.
I really liked the original G/Y GSC's that came on my car stock. Great wet performance and the dry was just as good. I will be getting the G/Y F1 GS-D3's next time the Bird needs rubber.

I purchased a 96 Formula with "bald" tires and then went to Goodyear and got 4 F1's that are great on dry and wet roads, no snow though down here in Florida, just hurricanes, two last year as a matter of fact. Anyways, with the purchase of a full set you get lifetime rotation for free and you can purchase the road emergency insurance that in case you do run over something that injures the tire or tires they will fix it for free. I love these tires and so far they have held up with little or very little wear. These tires are rated Y so if you can go over 180 mph they are there for you. By the way I haven't tried that yet!!!

take a look at the Fuzion Zri i believe it was on the tirerack website. Trying to save money i just put these on my ta. Y rated, not as soft compound like the Z for the dry but still pretty good and half the price or close depending on what tire you are used to putting on.
