What do you guys think about having a new section here called "Parts Review" or something like that? Formula90 do you think this would help the forum?

It would be nice to go to a section like that and be able to read other people's reviews on popular parts for our cars....

Definitly a good idea, maybe even be able to post the fabrications necessary for the installations of certain parts ( many of which companies claim no fabriction needed but half the time it turns out you do). It could be a place where members can post thier experience and maybe even let others know if it was worth it.

How about instead of "Parts Review" it be titled "Product Review" (subtitled "Here's what I think". That way other items besides just parts could be talked about. Things like cleaners, protectants, car wash items, cleaning tools, etc could also be discussed along with aftermarket and even stock parts for our cars.

the way it would work is.. a member would write a review.. then submit it to the admin for looking over.. then all they would have to do is just click submit and it would print on the main site..

That's a good idea. This way you would avoid the repetition of the same topic over and over again. For example, gears is something everyone talks about but it's not needed to post the same question 1,000s of times. By just looking at the "product reviews" section one could find the item and read other people's experiences and maybe post specific questions... I would like to see " Product Reviews " on the main page, where all the other big topics are listed.

That sounds like a good idea Jon. One person could make the inital review of the item, then once it's submitted others could make reviews of it in the comment section.

I like the name Product Review because it would cover a wide range of items that we all use on our cars, not just parts.

Also, since it's gonna be on the main page, would it be possible to put a link to it on the forum page that when you click on it, it would take you to the main page and from there you'd have to go to the Product Review section? That way members could see everything that's on the main page not just the Product Review section.

Sure hope that sounded right and you understand what I'm talking about. Been breathing in too many cleaning fumes today. I'm sure glad T/A Nats is only once a year.

If you click on news link at the very top of page... or on the main menu in main site.. you will see a new link calledd "product reviews"

Sue PMed me about this too regarding other section here but I had to pass because my travelling schedulle is going to be hectic in '05 and I am also moving in December.... not that I don't want to do it, I just would hate to let you guys down...

I could review either the Pro 5 shifter with the Lou Short Stick or the new Good Years F1-GS-D3 tires - I have both products for little more than 1 year now.

Another thing, I guess this new section " Product Reviews " will be visited a lot so I would put it in between "Board Admin Anouncements" and "Technical Area"

That's ok with me... I don't know about the rest but I have the forums page im my favorites, not the main page. It's one less click -- IMHO the product review section should be easy to spot in the main page - a button that stands out maybe?... even a button somewhere on the forum screens?..... I'm just thinking ahead, when you start getting inquiries from product manufacturers to advertise here

I think that would be a great benefit for all. It would be nice to get good advice form other members that do work on their cars that know what they are doing. Not all of us are mechanics. Not all of us have a mechanic that we can trust. I’m lucky I have one. I fix his computers and he fixes my car. Adding a good place for parts would be a plus. Not like Summit Racing, they cost more then most and every time my buddy Mike and I have orders parts from them we have received the wrong parts.

Just a little heads up .......... maybe someone should find out about legal limitations, in simpler terms if someone rights a bad review can the administration be held liable for defermation or would it be ok.? Don't want anyone to get in trouble so I thought I would just ask?

I think the product reviews section is a really great idea.

A few additional suggestions...when it gets bigger I think subsections like "Headers", "Gears", "Suspension Parts", etc. would make it easier to browse for the reviews you want to find.

Also how about a ranking system...like 1 through 5 "birds" instead of stars?
These could be averaged for an overall rank for a product.

Hey everybody. I am FG. The News Admin. I know you guys have product reviews and news just waiting to be posted. Shoot em on over to me.

I think the deformation of products wouldn't be a problem. It would simply be one persons experience and one person's opinion on the product.

This sounds like a fantastic idea. As a new owner of my first "real" fourth gen car (my first was a V6 auto.) and in need of as much input as possible, a product review section would help keep me and others from making possibly costly mistakes with mods, upgrades, etc. I also agree with Fireduck that the admin would not be liable for the opinions expressed in the posts, as these aren't paid reviews or used for commercial gain, but rather are just opinions of people who have used the products. If anything, the manufacturers might gain some valuable feedback about their products from actual users. Perhaps a disclaimer might help calm anybody afraid of getting sued. Just a thought.

I still think "Product Reviews" should be another section of the forums, like the existing "Technical Area", "Non-Tech", "Street n Strip", etc

Under "Product Reviews" category subdivisions like suspension, intake, car care, etc... would organize everything and make research quick to anyone interested in learning about other people's experiences.

It would bring lots of traffic to this site and no liability would be involved because they would be all personal opinions/experiences.

that is a good idea.. different catagories... so in your opinion you think this does belong in the forums?
