Hey people , k this friday night im going to take my car to the track for a cruize night , now i have NO clue what to do or what to expect . Im not the type that would just walk up to someone and challage him/her to a race either . I pretty much need advice from finding an apponent to staging to launching . The car does not hook up well at all ( 273's no posi) . Some help here would be cool , thanks .

The best advice I can give you is when you first get there, go into the stands and just watch for the first couple of runs that people make. That'll give you a good idea of what to do (and not to do). As for opponents, if that place is anything like mine, you don't really look for opponents (unless it's a grudge race). You just line up in the staging lanes and you run whomever happens to be next to you. Another thing is to follow whatever the track people tell you to do. They're there to help you and don't be afraid to ask them questions if you're not sure on where to go or what to do. For staging, since each track is a bit different, just ask someone working there how the light tree is set and where the actual staging line is. As for the light tree itself on when to go, myself I go on the LAST yellow light. Don't wait for the green light to go on or you'll more then likely be left behind especially if whomever you're running against has been there before. The best thing to remember is that you're there to have fun!!! Don't worry if you don't do so good your first couple of times. Experience will solve that. Now with launching, I'll leave that to the other people here since you've got a manny.
Good Luck and have fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have someone weld up the spider gears. Cheap posi. Best thing to do is hold it to the floor, drop the hammer, hold on , and have all the fun you can.

Yup that was pretty much the technic i was gonna use !

Are ya sure about welding the rearend solid ?

That cant be good for the car driving in town ... my neighbour is a 3rd gen owner that runs high 12's with the rear end solid ... broke once and it seems to shred the outside of the tires a bit . Anyone else done this ?

Automatic? I would first learn how to shift your gears manually. I do that and it honestly gets rid of -any- lag. Don't shift until you feel the car stop pulling. And for a launch? There are many different techniques, some people like to keep a foot on the brake, push on the accelerator till about 2200-2500 rpms, then release the break, if you have posi, big time help. if not you will be squeeling and then take off like a bat out of hell. Usually, it feels like your back end is starting to pick up.

93 formulalt1...u think that at a lite if i have my auto in neutral at lets say 2500 rpm and at yellow throw it in drive is a better take off then 3/4 throttle at the start then floorin it?

never do a neutral drop! That will destroy your trans very very quickly!

Yes, very bad for your transmission. Never do a neutral drop.

If you have street tires with decent wear on them, you could get a set of Drag Radials on the back, or a torque arm to really push those tires into the ground for better traction!
