Full Version: Got my G Tech today

Bid on it wednesday and got it today (ebay) for $39.95! It seems to be very accurate except for the mph. I first tried it in my wife's 98 Caravan. It did 0-60 in 12.1 seconds and the 1/4 mile in 18.9 @ 71 mph. Ha ha ha! Next I tried my car (of course). The road I was on was not as long as I thought so I could not run the whole 1/4 but it did click off a 0-60 in 4.97 sec. Finally I found a level spot long enough and tried again. With a lousy launch it ran 0-60 in 5.2 and the 1/4 in 13.7 @ 108.8 (!). So the mph is about 5 to much since I know it usually runs it at around 103 mph. Still a useful tool for tuning and having fun with.

Now I need to try it in my Dodge work van tongue.gif

I fooled around with it some more today. According to the G Tech,my car has 274 hp.I assume this is rear wheel hp? Next I tried my old Dodge work van.318 with 210K miles on it.It ran an 18.86 @ 74.6 mph.At least it's faster than my wifes 98 Caravan biggrin.gif It also has about 100 hp sad.gif

Ran a 13.47 with it tonight! Does that count? Also showed .94 G's in a hard right hand turn. Should do better in a left hand turn.

A coworkers Chevy 4X4 (2000 model?) ran 16.10
Another ran a low 17.It was a 4.6 litre Ford F150 2wd.

Everyone should have one of these biggrin.gif

I tried one in my car and it said I ran 11.60 at 122 or some crazy poop like that on street tires.

If they get knocked around, they'll be ruined. Got to treat those things like glass. That's probably the reason you had a "bad" reading..............take it out of the car each time you are done.....the sun can even damage them.........and definetly don't trow it in the glove box........you wouldn't even throw a cd into the glovebox unless it was in a case, would ya'?
BadBird383
I wasn't saying that the reading was really off though. Look at my sig it is kinda fast. wink.gif wink.gif

I think it was off a little on the mph but the 1/4 time seems close.

I've had fairly accurate and consistent results with mine. At first it was for fun and bragging rights, but now I'm using it to set benchmarks for future mods. Ive been trying to keep a log of all runs I make including launch RPM, shift points, weather, road contitions, etc. to see what happens after I get my Flowmasters next week (and other goodies for Christmas wink.gif ). Hopefully it will be able to tell me better than a SOTP feel will. Tyler's right...everybody needs one of these things.

:huh:ooooh! so it wasn't off then. cool.gif

Yea, the mph is always a couple off on mine to in the 1/4 mile run......... dry.gif

Mine seems to be 5 mph to fast but the e.t's seem dead on. Next spring I'll use it while I'm at the strip. Anyone done that yet?
BadBird383
No but that is a damn good idea. :duh:
4thtimes charm
i did a couple runs with chad's last weekend got 5.9 0to60 first run and 14.5 @101.5 in the 1/4 second got to 60 in 5.3

Did some runs after MAF modification and Flowmaster install and my times got worse...so did the HP #'s! I'm hoping it was too soon after the mods and the computer hadn't had a chance to recalibrate itself or else something is really wrong! Gonna try again when the rain moves out of here.
